This reverse osmosis system is an excellent value at a very affordable price! The first reverse osmosis system we had, cost almost $400! We use reverse osmosis water for our saltwater aquarium systems, because it makes sure that all toxins are removed from the water for the safety of the fish, anemones, and other invertebrates. With this particular system, it hooks directly to our sink, so our family can enjoy the benefits of the nearly contaminate free water too! It does take up a bit of room under there, but it's worth the compromise for us. This is an awesome product, for you family, your pets, and even your fish if you have some. It filters out chlorine, fluoride, lead, pesticides, and other contaminates. It makes the water from your tap taste like bottled water! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The three stage reverse osmosis water treatment system is just what I have been looking for. For the price, this product is solid and a compact space saving design and was not too difficult to install for a novice handy man. The color coded tubing really did make for easy installation. This is my first reverse osmosis water treatment system, so I suppose I will see how the water changes as the system does its job. Just in case you are going to install the system yourself and do not have the tools, here is a list of tools needed to install the product: 1. DRILL BIT 1/8', 3/16', 1/4', 3/8' AND 1/2' & 1 1/4' SAW HOLE BIT 2. VARIABLE SPEED DRILL (CORDED OR CORDLESS) 3. SLOTTED AND PHILLILPS SCREW DRIVER 4. 2 ADJUSTABLE WRENCHES 5. NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS 6. TEFLON PIPE TAPE 7. SAFETY GLASSES 8. UTILITY KNIFE 9. LEVEL (SMALL, ABOUT 8-12 INCHES) Good luck and enjoy your new system. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Attractive price for a basic NSF rated Reverse Osmosis water treatment system. Installation using the diagram and directions was straight forward and I suggest adding a bit of extra tubing to make it easier to periodically access filters and membrane during the replacement intervals The Reverse Osmosis membrane costs ~$30 and needs to be replaced approximately every 2 years and the other filters (carbon block and granulated carbon and sediment) are supposed to be replaced every 6 months so the annual cost is ~$75 per year. I expect that selling the whole Reverse Osmosis unit for an attractive price will be a path to profit for them selling filters and membranes One downside of Reverse Osmosis units is that they reportedly waste about 10 units of water for each unit of water produced. With this in mind I think I will go back to my carbon block filters by general ecology/seagull and Multipure that improve taste and keep minerals and have no waste water for a similar filter price per year. I recommend with reservation because this is like buying an inkjet printer - they just about "give" you the unit, then make a fortune selling filters for the thing. Without any real use it's hard to tell how long filters will last, but the documentation suggest 6 to 12 months. At roughly $30.00/filter, that's a lot. Basically I could just buy a new unit every year. Also note, while the tank appears very well made, it is plastic, and rated only at 50 psi. Should be ok, most houses use a pressure regulator set about 40 psi. My reservations are only due to filter cost, and not knowing how often they would need to be replaced. Also, with a 3 or 4 stage filter, do you need to replace all filters? I would assume the first one in the line would need replacement sooner? [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

First, assembly is pretty much a no-brainer. The tubing is already hooked up between all of the filters and mounted onto the hanging assembly, so don't be intimidated by the instructions that appear to show the end-user has to assemble it. Next, all of the outlets are color coded with plugs that correspond to the tubing so you really have very little thinking to do. Now, this is set up to be a counter top dispenser, though I did something different with mine: I attached mine to the water supply for my refrigerator/ice maker. I did this specifically to clear up my cloudy ice (water softener in use on a private well) and so that my drinking water is already cold. To do this, however, I needed to get a reduction coupling (3/8 in. O.D. x 1/4 in. O.D. Quick Connect Coupling). The tubing included is 1/4 OUTER diameter and the standard refrigerator supply line is 1/4 INNER diameter (3/8 outer diameter). This was not a problem and all I had to do was ensure the pressure tank filled up, completely, before turning on the water at the wall turn off valve behind the fridge. Ice and water taste PERFECT and my cubes are clear, now! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This RO system by Vitapur is a perfect fit for our smaller kitchen - we love the compact design! Vitapur has redesigned this system to take up less space under the cabinet by mounting the main filter horizontally, as compared to their other 3-filter and 5-filter models that use all vertical mounting. In fact, top-shelf quality is really noticeable throughout this reverse osmosis water filtration system, from the well-written, easy-to-follow manual, to the ease of installation, color-coded tubing and quality components, all at a reasonable price for a filter system from Canada. A couple of details I noticed that I really liked, as an engineer myself are: 1) the dual green alignment dots on the two vertical housing units, that show you when the filter housing is fully seated, and 2) the dual O-rings seals on each filter housing interior (as shown in the pics below) which ensures a really tight leak-proof seal. (Other whole house filters have only one seal in the housing, not two, which adds twice the leak protection. After all, kitchen cabinets are expensive and no one wants to find a tiny leak has developed later on. With this system, extra protection against leaks has been designed in already.) Finally, 3) it produces 23.3 Gallons per day of RO drinking water, which is more purified water than we can ever use up on our busiest day. As I mentioned, the Vitapur 3 stage compact RO system was super easy to install, and only took about one hour from start to finish, after reading the instructions, made easier because everything is packaged so well, and the instructions are quite good. So, if you are handy, and can hook up a faucet and can work a small wrench and drill gun, you can install this yourself and you probably won't need to hire a plumber. We bought this system because we have some nitrates in our local well water, which is not great to drink long term. We're lucky as we know what's in our water due to a free comprehensive county testing program. Others may not know and in mountainous regions there can often be harmful compounds like heavy metals or arsenic in the water. In older homes in cities, lead can also be an issue. If you install this system, you can ensure that your home's drinking water is pure and safe, so it may be the best appliance for your whole family's health. We liked ours so much, we plan to get a 2nd unit for our vacation home soon. Last but not least, there is the cost involved. This is a moderately priced quality RO system and Home Depot also sells the Vitapur replacement filters for this unit, which are not expensive either. Twenty years ago, RO systems were twice the price they are now, yet Vitapur brand is a Cadillac product at half the price we used to pay for an RO system. I highly recommend this system. He brags about his and how good his water tastes. Well, I have to say that he was right. This system made a total difference in my water quality. My coffee is much better using the filtered water. The system came packaged well. I did the installation myself in about 2 hours (with a couple breaks). Everything needed for my installation was included but your plumbing might require some modifications. The instructions were very easy to follow. I have a granite counter top and had to drill the hole for the faucet. That was the messy part. Everything else went smooth during install and set up. I’m very happy with the system. It’s better than I expected.. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This is a great water filter for any municipal water supplied source, as well as for a well supplied system. It removes most chlorine, fluoride and lead, as well as pesticides, salts, etc. and makes the water pure tasting and clear. Just understand that this is NOT a whole house water filter, but a single source filter usually installed under the kitchen sink and needs a place to mount the included water faucet, such as in an unused faucet hole in your sink or countertop. Replacement filters are not too expensive, but they must be replaced periodically. Also remember this filter will not treat water hardness. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
