We happen to need a lot for our tropical fish tank. Con: Comes designed to hook into the piping to a cold water sink faucet. The fittings supplied are designed for older models of faucets than those that we have in our house. When I contacted the manufacturer, the help desk was unable to supply or direct me to an adapter. The representative just repeated "call a plumber" with an unpleasant escalating tone. It was not a good experience. After I acquired an adapter on my own, the installation went rather quickly although there are quite a few tubing connections to make. Once fully installed, I turned on the water into the unit, and the supplied spigot for RO water immediately began leaking. I contacted the manufacturer who sent a replacement in about a week. So, yes I'd recommend the product for RO water, but the installation is not easy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I was very impressed with the workmanship and pride they take in their product. The protective encasement within the box for shipping is very good to excellent. The owners manual is nicely and neatly packed in a heavy zip lock plastic folder to keep the manual either with the reverse osmosis unit itself or in a file drawer. The connections were a breeze. The quick connect filters are a selling point all of their own. I could not have installed the unit where I did if I needed to use a big bulky wrench to remove the filter housings. The connection to the cold water line is the best I've seen or used. I have never been fond of puncturing a fresh water line with a "needle valve", and this included connection avoids this. Also, a needle valve is almost certain to fail over time. The improved taste of the water is noticeable. We are on a well and actually have very good water - this reverse osmosis treatment system takes water taste and quality to a new level. A couple small issues I did notice, but they are certainly not a reason to affect the functionality of the product. On page 14 of the English instructions and page 38 of the French instructions, it clearly states the reverse osmosis filter to be changed every 24 to 36 months. On the reverse osmosis membrane itself, it says to change it every 6 months. Also, I made my own labels for dating the filters for the next change. The space on the factory label on the filter itself is a bit small to write large enough to easily see when the next filter change is due. You would also need to use a fine point marking pen with permanent ink to write on the label. The label is of such incredible quality and water proof, that it is almost too good for this one small detail of writing the date on the filter. I think it is wonderful a company has so much pride in their product, they may have done too good a job in this one small situation. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I picked up this Five Stage 23.3GPD Reverse Osmosis Treatment System, by Vitapur, to improve the water quality in my kitchen. The packaging is very good with adequate protection from shipper handling. After opening the box, I realized how big this system is! Measure very carefully for height, length and depth of the filtration panel Add two inches minimum to the height as the cartridges need space to be removed from the housings. The tank is another large item to deal with. Also think very carefully how much space you need to perform the maintenance. Every person has different ways to get into tight areas, so get inventive. The system comes complete, from the special fitting to the supply line and the saddle clamp for the drain water in the sink drain pipe. All tubing needed are supplied in adequate lengths as well. Overall quality is great and cartridge replacement is very easy. Plan ahead and order the needed filters in advance, they are available from Home Depot online or the manufacturer. The tank is the only item that is an issue with me. There is a valve on the very bottom that requires access to for maintenance. The housing air pressure probably needs to be checked occasionally for a pressure of 4-8psi indicated on the tank or 8-12psi listed in the instructions. getting to the schreader valve, like a bicycle tire valve, to check or adjust the pressure requires lifting the tank up and holding the tank with one hand while checking or filling with the other hand. This is while laying on the floor, with both arms in the sink cabinet to perform this. If your kitchen is like mine, you have sink drains, garbage disposer, dishwasher drain and a handful of cleaners to work around. There are several ways to get around thid, but one must be a bit inventive to reduce the strain. I fixed mine with no modification of their components and at a very small cost. Final line, an inventive installation and a great product overall. Works good for me. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The VitaPur Five Stage 23.3 GPD Quick Connect Reverse Osmosis Treatment System was an easy install in my rental property. It took about 300 minutes to make the connections and run the hose to the kitchen sink. Fortunately I replaced the older two handle faucet with a single lever faucet and had two extra holes in the countertop for the filtered water factor and a soup pump. The renters are very happy with the better taste of the water and have thanked me several times for adding the system to the home. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I had a little trouble with the provided valve used to tee into your water supply - I ended up having to replace it with a different one from the home center which was an unexpected trip and expense. Once installed, the instructions required running the tap for 24 hours to clean up the filter. I assume this is standard for RO systems but I was disappointed having to do it a second time before it full cleaned up. Overall I am happy with the quality of the water. Five Stage 23.3 GPD Quick Connect Reverse Osmosis Treatment System By vitapur undersink filtration system uses a smaller footprint under your sink but the three gallon holding tank takes up an additional one feet square by 18 inch high space. It ships with all the hardware you will need for installation. Unfortunately the supply feed while quality brass valve with 1/4 inch compression fitting that ships with the unit was larger than my sink plumbing so I had to acquire a supply fitting that would fit my feed line. The faucet was an easy install once I got the three feed lines connected and let common sense dictate from the the instructions picture and words. The spacer goes under the lock plate connecting the faucet to the sink and the lock washer under the spacer then the locking nut holds everything tight. This is much easier if you have two people one to hold the faucet and one under the sink tightening everything together. Then every thing else is push connection and color coordinated. I don’t like the wasted water necessary to purge the system but what are your options. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Finally, a filter that works as intended. It looks great having it built-in on the counter. Makes my friends jealous since they have to buy bottled water. This was a bit of a challenge to install, but worth the effort. I had to go to Home Depot to get a different fitting for the valve since my home has a weird configuration. Also, you have to drill into the drain. Other than that, it's plug and play. Has great pressure and didn't take as much room in the cabinet as i thought it would.
