Rated 2 de 5 de par Adjustment of closing speed too difficult The "tap n go" feature is handy, and works well, but feels like it might be getting ready to fail, after only 3 months of use. Also, like a closer that WalMart offers at less than half this price, it's closing speed adjustment is VERY touchy: although the closing speed adjustment screw turns at least 3 full times, there's a mere 20 degree window of adjustment wherein the door goes from not closing AT ALL, to slamming shut. Even AFTER painstakingly adjusting it, the door STILL swings shut freely that last foot or so. It might be necessary to go to a much more expensive and heavier-duty a unit, if you want your door to shut quietly.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Incorrect recommendation using 2 closers 1. Packaging recommends using 1 or 2 closers depending on door type. Recommends 2 HD closers for our full glass storm door. One being the Tap N Go, and the other HD w/out that feature. No real data on timing the closing rates to equalize hinge pressure, and when getting the timing the same....the Tap N Go opening force is much higher than the other HD closer. Home Boss (wife) made one nasty comment about how hard it is to open 2. Installation sheet worthless unless you use magnifying 'helpers'. Crammed English, French, and Spanish.....onto one page, and left the back page blank! Nothing more needs to be said on that.

I have a outswing screen door on my porch that opens next to wall of house, so when it opens space is smaller near the wall of the house(because of pitch of floor that allows water runoff). I installed a door sweep from Home Depot with a brush bottom instead of a rubber bottom. This cured the space being smaller when I opened door, but I needed a stronger door closer. I had two medium duty Wright door closers one top and one bottom, but they were not strong enough. So I purchased the heavy duty Wright for the bottom and left the medium duty Wright at the top. That solved the problem; door closes great and bottom is sealed. BKO

Rated 5 de 5 de par Wright Heavy Duty Closer The Heavy Duty Model works as EXPECTED, Wonderful to have door open with a push of a button, Nudge to close. OR if screen door is open position, a gust of wind will allow the door to close and not get damaged when the wind catches the door 4-5 times until the door get damaged. This was my forth try Wright Products STANDARD Duty Tap N Go Closer in Black The " Heavy duty " is outstanding. Regular duty was tried and failed three time. Went back and forth to replace this product. AVOID the standard duty at all cost A few years ago installed Wright Products Heavy Duty Tap N Go Closer in Black on the front door, Wanted the same convenience on the back and now have the Wright Product in the right place,

Rated 5 de 5 de par worked as expected. no problems Easy to install. Since I was replacing existing closer, I didn't have to drill new holes or mount brackets. I wanted this for the one tap hold open feature.

I replaced the closer on a full length glass door and it is just the right amount of strength to hold it open and not close it too fast that it rattles or bangs and makes you think it will break the door. The "tap n go" feature is more of a push n go but it works great, allowing you to hold the door open and then push it with an elbow, foot, hip anything you want to release the hold feature. The only thing that I would like to see as an improvement would be to allow the locking mechanism to be switchable from pushing to lock to an auto-lock, allowing the door to be pulled open and locks itself open without having to push the lock button.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Yes if your space is wide. No if your space between doors is narrow. I have a somewhat narrow but not unusually narrow space between my two doors. The positioning of the button on the side is bumps into the inside door and sets the door switch "on" when the door closes. This is a nuisance. My previous door closer had the switch button on the top which worked perfectly with narrow spaces. It does not seem like it would take a major change to make this device capable of working with the button either on the side or the top. If Wright would do that, I would rate it 5 stars. If Wright would provide instructions on how to disassemble this unit, perhaps I could figure out how to machine it to work with the button on top. I hope Wright is listening.

I bought this due to it's convenience- I have an Anderson for the front storm door with a similar concept, yet the button is on the TOP, which makes sense (it's also a 2x6 door in the front). My back door is in a 2x4 frame, which means that when the storm door closes the hold-open button on the closer hits the exterior door, engaging the hold-open feature...this results in the door wanting to stay open as you exit. This could easily be solved by locating the hold-open button on the top (as my Anderson is setup), but alas this design flaw had me returning to the store where they happily refunded my money and I bought the old-fashioned type (same company, Wright). This may work well for a 2x6 door frame with a larger gap between the exterior door and the storm door.

Where is the adjusting screw to control the speed of closing?

Posée par: km
KM-Yes, there are 2 closing speed adjustments on your V2012 door closer. The first adjustment is located on the end of the cylinder. This adjustment will determined how fast or slow your door closes from fully open up until the last 6" of your door close. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise to slow down the close or counter-clockwise to speed it up. The second adjustment will determine how fast or slow the last 6" of the close is. There are 2 holes in your Jamb bracket. Connect the rod to the jamb bracket in the hole furthest from your door jamb. If a slower close is preferred then remove the rod and relocate it into the hole closest to the door jamb. Have a great day!

I have the V150 installed now. I need to replace it as the rod got bent. Will this work with the existing screw holes?

Posée par: Runt
Don't know what the length is on a V150 closer but if the length is the same as the "Tap And Go" then no new holes should be required. The "Tap And Go" is, after all, a replacement closer. I replaced two closers that got bent when a heavy wind caught my storm door. No new holes required.

Rod won't go back in cylinder--even when pressure is applied. Is this a common malfunction ??

Posée par: Gloria
Take it part way off the door by taking the pin out of the top where the piston hooks to the door (not the jamb). Leave the piston still connected to the jamb connection. Pull on the pistion as far as it will go and it will disconnect. Keep holding on to the piston and SLOWLY let the rod go back into the piston. If you just let go of it it could be dangerous. Your best bet really is to take it back and get the old fashioned type.

Will it prevent the wind from pulling the door open

Posée par: Edward
It might add a little resistance, but it is designed to let the door automatically and slowly close. I would not use it for the purpose of keeping the door closed in the wind.

Just screw on??

I want to put in on for my Mother
Posée par: Jo
The brackets on each end need to be screwed into the doorframe, then the closer gets pinned to the brackets using supplied pins.

Which is it? Does the button hold or release the door?

The descriptions says it releases the door; the answer to the first question says it holds it. Assuming it releases the door, how far open do I have to push it to get it to hold?
Posée par: Phil
Phil-If you want your door into a lock open position, tap the button. Give your door a quick push further open to release the door back into the closed position. Thank you!
