Rated 2 de 5 de par Disappointing compared to previous models I've owned every generation of the fast back knives, still have the original in my main tool bag for a back up. This new model feels cheap, they use plastic instead of metal where you load the blade and it the spare blade holder in mine doesn't fit right so it just flops around and rattles. Used the knife for half a day and went out to my truck and grabbed my Fastback 2 instead. I have a new loaner knife if someone else needs to use one now, but I will not be using it. Poor build quality and materials, the fastback knives have been my favorite since they came out. I hope they get it together for the next one because this one is junk.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Milwaukee FASTBACK Compact Folding Utility Knife is better than the others that I have used the blade doesn't come out when your using it which what I hate on most of my replaceable blade knives. You also have two different length options depending on which notch you put it on and what your cutting through. Button on side of knife press opens knife you can attach it to your belt or put it on a lanyard. Nice red color so I can find it quicker

Rated 5 de 5 de par Just one minor tweak and it would be perfect I use this knife almost everyday. I’ve owned most of the fastback folding utility knife versions and this one is by far my favorite. The pocket clip is much stronger on this version than the others. And it’s less bulky than the one with onboard blade storage. Also most utility blades are already two sided I never had a need to change one out while not near my stack of 100. The only improvement I would make would be to flatten out the end and add a small piece of metal. You wouldn’t believe how often I end up using this knife as a hammer, to pound small nails or restart a computer.

Rated 5 de 5 de par [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Locking (both in open and closed positions) by a thumb button (for right handers) to release the mechanism. Model is 48-22-1500 Lightweight red plastic covering over the internal steel core. Weighs about 3.6 ounces and is 4 inches long closed, just over 1/2" wide. The blade is the 'standard' steel utility knife blade, with 1/2 exposed when opened. The blade is replicable (or flip it for the other 1/2) by pressing a metal tab on the holder. The pocket clip is the open wire bale type and there is a lanyard attachment at the back end. Yes you and unlock, flip open, lock, use, unlock and then close with one hand if desired.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Sums up so Milwaukee products. This knife as similar as it is to every other utility knife, is anything but. I'm not going describe hand feel and yada yada. I'm just going to say that if you try this knife you'll quickly realize that someone spent hours and hours testing and tweaking this simple tool until it became what it is. Someone at Milwaukee re designed the wheel basically with this knife. As is all Milwaukee products. When I hand some one a "red" tool on the job and they don't like it because its not like every other brands version, or don't notice the attention to detail I know they aren't on my level. This all sounds crazy but if you can make a simple utility knife this much better than the usual, I'd be crazy to use any other tools. If you don't get it, just move on, to the yellow site...

Rated 5 de 5 de par I love utility knives. I have been collecting utility knives with interchangeable razor blades fo... I love utility knives. I have been collecting utility knives with interchangeable razor blades for many years. The Milwaukee Fastback Compact Flip Utility Knife is no ordinary fixed blade folding utility knife. This is a game changer. This design uses a simple push button that unlocks the knife in both the open and closed positions. This is not a switchblade whatsoever. There is no spring-assist, lock-back or liner-lock mechanism. In fact, pushing the button does not do anything on its own. The action is a two-step process where you push the button while simultaneously flip it open or closed. The force of the flip is what makes this “Fastback” fast. The flipping action can be very addictive, like a fidget spinner. I just call it a fidget knife. It takes plenty of practice to get good at flipping this knife and I cut myself pretty bad on the close. It’s fun, but dangerous. There are several competitors from both major big box hardware retail stores that have copied the original design with their own store-brand copycat. What makes this different is that it’s compact, the outer body is plastic attached to an inner metal frame, making it lighter in weight and giving you a unique texture grip. Because it’s compact, it has no built-in blade storage. The engineering behind this remarkable design is just brilliant. The blade change happens from a push button on the left side of the knife. Although this design is clearly intended for right-handed use, I have opened/closed it with my left hand once and it works just as easy. What I found remarkable is that the blade retention is above average for this type of system with very minimal blade movement. The blade is right aligned. In other words, if you examine the blade from above, you will see that the blade is horizontally flush to the right. Several other utility knives in my collection have the blade perfectly center. I believe that this is the result of Milwaukee trying to make this knife as thin as possible. Good design, but certainly not perfect and that is partially why it is too easy to cut yourself when flipping this knife closed. The belt clip is supposed to be superior to the previous models, but it is not quite there. This knife has fallen off my pocket when it was attached as I had to bend down (back straight, bent with knees) to examine a project I was working on. I would like to recommend a longer belt clip that stretches from the very top to the very bottom at the full length of the handle for a more secure fit. There is no blade storage on this knife. I have several other utility knives that are much thinner with built-in blade storage. However, those knives are technically too thin to get a good secure grip. I praise Milwaukee for making this knife thin, but not too thin to hold. Another issue I found with this utility knife is that it’s “Made In China”. Milwaukee needs to support my country by manufacturing all of their tools in the USA. Most of the tools in my toolbag are made in USA and Milwaukee needs to join them. This is a very serious issue because I almost avoided buying this tool for THAT very important reason. Overall: Good price, amazing size, well built utility knife that does not copy any other design on the market. Despite all of the flaws, this is a very good utility knife. The fit and finish is pretty solid. This product has earned my recommendation.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Almost perfect Although it may be specific to me, I see only one con to this knife, so I’ll start with that. I like to choke up on the blade in a lot of situations - breaking down cardboard boxes, for example. The blade release button is on the right side of this knife though, so nearly every time I choke up, the side of my index finger hits the blade release, and the blade slides free. Other than that, this is the very best utility knife I have used. It is built like a tank, and the locking mechanism is faster and easier than any of the others. I have several other knives that don’t present the same issue with the blade release, but I keep coming back to this one because of it’s ease of use and solid feel.

Rated 5 de 5 de par After 4 years, still like new. I am an electrician, and work in a foundry, which means my tools are subject to a lot of sand, heavy dust, and countless other gritty, abrasive materials. I constantly have to clean/lubricate all of my stuff, just so they function properly. Well, even under conditions that could be considered neglect or abuse, this knife has never let me down. The amount of play when blade is open is minimal at most. Even though the eccentric on the locking cam has rounded slightly over time, there is still a feel of a positive lock, that definitely inspires confidence. I fully expect another 4-5 years of reliable service. This model was kept simple. And we all know the saying about fixing things that aren’t broken. Excellent tool.

Is there built in blade storage?

It states in the item description that this knife has an extra place to put extra blades but i dont sss anything aboit that in the reviews. Can someone clarify this please??
Posée par: TonyV
No it does not. It is much smaller than a full size utility knife. Made more for carrying in your pocket. Only blade is in the knife itself.
