Rated 2 de 5 de par Too bulky (w/battery) for use with heated jacket, low output for USB charging My biggest complaint with the M18 power source is that the USB output is limited to 500mA. Most current model cell phones or tables will draw anywhere from 1-2A (1000-2000mA) when charging, if supported by the charger. So if you want to use this to charge your cell phone or tablet, expect it to take anywhere from 2-4 times as long to charge when compared with using the charge that came with your phone or tablet. If you're aware of this going in, you won't be disappointed. It works well and charge your phone or tablet multiple times - albeit SLOWLY. If you're on a job site without power, don't expect to use this to fully charge your phone during your lunch break - on a 30 minute break you'll be luck to boost your charge by more than 15%.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Good for emergency use!! This power source has been good to have in emergency situations. I don’t usually have to charge my phone on the job site, I usually charge my phone in the car all the time, but every now and then this has come in handy to charge up my phone. Very compact and convenient to have.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Needs Better Specs I was hoping that Milwaukee was keeping up with technology. The specs fail to mention output leaving users to figure it out. From a users' perspective, given an average 18V 5Ah Milwaukee M18 battery, we should have an adapter giving us three outputs 2 USB A each with an adaptive output of 5V abd up to 3Ah and 1 USB C 18W. Further, if users are correct that this is a "dumb" adapter with an single USB A output of 5V and 0.5 Ah, its pretty much useless. Well need to stick to external power banks. Please advise and Upgrade.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Could be so much better Low voltage/slow charging, and it only has a single USB output. This really hampers the products potential, but I knew that and bought it anyway because I wanted to extend the use of my batteries. By far the worst thing is that the battery has a constant drain when the switch is on - whether it is charging something or not. Meaning a High Output XC6.0 battery can only charge my older phone about 3-4 times if I turn it on overnight. The battery has enough energy capacity to charge the phone 9-10 times - IF it was programmed better (like every other battery bank in this price range).

Rated 3 de 5 de par Appears limited to 500mA on USB output Useful for keeping your electronics charged during a power failure, but the (apparent) 500mA USB output means charging modern cell phones or tablets will take a LONG time - 8 hours for my Nexus 7, which started at 18%. The M12 power source claims up to 2.1A output - more than 4 times the M18 power source output. It works fine for what it IS, but it should BE more.

Rated 4 de 5 de par M18 Power Source This item would be so much more useful if it had at least 2 x 2.1A USB ports. Combined with the new high capacity batteries it would be extremely useful on a construction site to charge phones/Mp3s etc.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Drains battery while doing nothing Bought this unit to extend the run time on my heated jacket and charge devices when off the grid. The issue: If you accidentally (or unknowingly as it was for me the first time around) leave the power switch in the "on" position the circuitry in the unit will drain the battery dead. An incredibly critical design flaw not to have a sense circuit to make it "sleep" when not in use. Which also means that you need to go in the back pocket of your jacket to shut it off at the end of the day or it will go dead. Imagine it your cordless drill did that. Thought Milwaukee was smarter than this.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Handy. Received my power source May 16th 2014 The specs on package for usb are 2.1 amps. I do not know if or when they changed the output on the usb port but it is not the .5 amps mentioned in other reviews The plug for the jacket is 12.2 volts so there is another output from battery but it is only .015 amps. Not much you can do with .015 amps other than plug in jacket This makes a nice portable light with a 10 led usb lamp plugged in. I wish it had a built in led flashlight

I want to purchase an additional battery for my m12 heated vest. Can you tell me the performance difference between an m12xc and a m18compact?

Posée par: larry
The M12™ REDLITHIUM™ XC Battery (48-11-2402) will provide slightly longer run-time than the M18™ REDLITHIUM™ Compact Battery (48-11-1815), on your M12™ Heated Jacket.

Will this M18 power source charge up my Milwaukee Red Lithium USB battery? Using the USB port from the Milwaukee M18 cordless power source. Believe the USB output is 2.1 mili amps or 2.1 amps.
Posée par: J888
Yes you can charge the Milwaukee Red Lithium USB battery AND the M12 battery using the Milwaukee 48-59-1201 charger (came with my Milwaukee heated jacket kit) with the M18 power source. I thought this was an interesting question and while I didn't see any reason why it wouldn't work, just to be sure I tested it and the combinations do work. There are some inefficiencies involved here as one would expect. The M18 power source is a little warm to the touch (but NOT hot!) so you're losing some battery power to producing heat. But the short answer to the question is that yes, it does work. By the way, the power output from the USB plug is 2.1 amps.

What is the output voltage of this? Does it convert it down to 12V or can the heaters just handle 18V? I have a heated jacket, but I am planning to use this to run 12V LED lights in the shed.
Posée par: CMH
It will run your heated gear So yes it is a 12v dc output

what is the little circle hole on the side for?

Posée par: dyland
The small hole that you see is for the 12v output. The other side has the USB port. The pin inside of the hole is the positive polarity.
