But for me they works fine. I would guess how you used them and what you use them on will have a big effect on your success. These and just about any screw extractor are not magic tools, they will not get out rusted, galled, seized, etc screws. They are intended to get out screws where the head is stripped. I have used these with a drill and an impact driver and with proper use they work. They need to be pressed into the fastener pretty hard (the harder the fastener the more pressure needed) and you need to start out at a slow speed. A high speed will just strip out the head more and quickly.

Drill shaft was too short for a screw with a recess hex drive which are commonly found with knock-down furniture (ie. IKEA) so I used a standard drill bit of the same size. Running my drill as slowly as possible in reverse, I still wore down the raised spiral material on the extractor side. Since I still might need a screw extractor in my tool box, I purchased the SPEEDOUT COBALT 10X model that is suppose to last longer at $19.97. I'll find out if it is any better than the SPEEDOUT TITANIUM 4X when I need to use it. Good luck to all!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Really Works! Im surprised by all the bad reviews. I set out to replace the hinges on my entry doors. I thought it would be a simple job except I discovered half of the screws on the existing hinges were stripped. I searched Home Depot for a solution and came across these drill bits. They fit my Dewalt drill and removed the stripped screws like a dream. I like that they are all-in-one where you use one side of the bit to drill into the center of the screw and then the other side of the bit to remove the screw. I followed directions, using my drill in reverse, and quickly removed the worn screws. I think every handy person should keep these in their tool box.

Rated 5 de 5 de par works well for the right job These extracors are meant to be used to remove screw or bolts that have had the heads broken off and haven't been oxidized into a seriously seized problem. Deck screws that have been rusted into the boards and then had the heads broken off are never going to come out with this or anything else.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Waste of time and money GARBAGE Let’s face it when we stripped the screw we are frustrated enough and then we go to the store and this gets recommended. I never read the reviews and I really should’ve because they are all correct. This does not extract screws it doesn’t do anything it is a total useless item that Home Depot should not carry. I hope the people at Home Depot read the reviews and actually try this product because it is absolute garbage and I wouldn’t expect to buy such a product at Home Depot. I phoned of the company customer service and all they said was “so sorry”. I hope that Home Depot stops carrying this. They will have very unhappy customers if they continue to sell it.

I tried to drill out a grade 5 bolt, and the drill end immediately became dull, and it didn't even start to make a hole. And yes, I had the drill running counter-clockwise. The "titanium" coating immediately comes off upon first use, it's not even titanium (nitried), it's just PAINT. Bottom line: these do not work, do not buy them.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Did the job for me. One of my license plate lights burned out and the screws were badly rusted. I was looking at a few options, and decided this would be worth a try. It did not disappoint. Couple of tips: Use a little oil when drilling into metal. The titanium coating is thin so oil will protect your investment. When extracting the screw, tap the bit in first. Not too hard, just give it a chance to bite in. Finally, use an impact driver or a drill with the clutch set low (adjust gradually.) Work it slowly out - remember, there's probably a good reason why the fastener head failed.

I purchased the set, but do not actually know how it works. There are two side. I presume the common side goes into the drill gun. Please advise Any demo?
Posée par: charlie
Hi Charlie......take a look at this closeup of the different sized outs: You'll see one end has a drill bit and the other end has a auger tip (multi/tight threads that widen from the tip). You use the bit end to drill a starter hole in the head of the stripped screw/bolt then use the opposite auger end to remove it by drilling in REVERSE just like you would to remove it. As you do so, the auger end drills itself into the pilot hole you drilled and "grabs" the screw head and torque pulls it right out! Big Tim - Home Depot Pro Jupiter, FL.

The rounded off screw is on my car engine can I use this with a nut driver instead of a drill?

Posée par: Mook
I'm afraid not. The first step is to drill a whole into the bolt or screw. This requires a drill, The drill bit is a special one that comes in the kit.

Do you carry ttitanium screws

Posée par: roe
Are you kidding? Home Depot is NOT a hardware store and does not carry more than a sample of hardware items. This is a specialty item, shop online.
