Project Overview

Making a Scrollwork Mirror

Throw your room a curve with a feminine fretwork mirror. Start with four pieces of in-stock pine scrollwork painted in your preferred colour. Single or in a trio, it makes a pretty impression.

7 Steps

  1. Sand,
  2. Assemble
  3. Position
  4. Apply clear silicone
  5. Line up

  2. Touch up with paint,

Sand,

Step 1

Sand,

prime and paint the 4 pieces of scrollwork that will make up the frame.

Assemble

Assemble

the frame and measure to determine the size of mirror required. We used a 20" x 24" bevel-edged mirror.

Position

the framing sections on the mirror and mark where the frame will sit.

Apply clear silicone

Step 4

Apply clear silicone

to the parts of the scrollwork that will be in contact with the mirror.

Line up

Line up

the guide marks and fit the frame to the mirror.

Step 6

Once silicone

has dried remove any excess with a razor knife or scraper.

Step 7

Touch up with paint,

if necessary, and hang in your preferred location.
