Landscape Basics 2g. Purpleleaf Sandcherry

Elevate your landscape with the stunning color and year-round interest of the 2g. Purpleleaf Sandcherry. This highly ornamental, fast-growing shrub is celebrated for its deep, handsome burgundy to reddish-purple foliage that provides dramatic contrast and holds its rich tone all summer long. In spring, delicate, fragrant pinkish-white flowers emerge, offering a beautiful contrast against the dark leaves and attracting essential pollinators like bees and butterflies. Perfect as a striking specimen plant, a colorful hedge, or a vibrant backdrop in mixed borders. Purpleleaf Sandcherry is also adaptable to most soils and moderately drought-tolerant once established. It thrives in full sun, where it achieves the most vibrant foliage color. As a hardy and low-maintenance choice, it quickly establishes itself, growing 6-10 feet tall and 5-8 feet wide, ensuring a magnificent focal point for your garden. Enjoy the tiny blackish-purple fruits in July, which are a favorite snack for local birds.
