Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best one yet! I have been using different products over the years to heat my garage and this BY FAR is the best product yet. My garage is not very tight so it is hard to heat. I have a wood stove so of course it does get very warm but it takes forever for it to heat up using wood and not everyone has a wood stove. This amazing little unit tackled the job with a grin!! 4800 watts is a lot of power to use and would be quite heavy on the electric bill if it was used ALL the time and what i mean by that is if you kept your garage at room temp all winter. Nobody does this i hope!! Because it works so well it doesnt need to be on constantly therefore it is rather efficient!! Thank you Dimplex!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Heater This is the third heater I have tried, all were 4800W units and the first two were from other stores not Home Depot and not Dimplex brands, the first two did not heat up as quickly and were extremely noisy, one vibrated so badly it almost fell off the shelf I made for the heater and fan sounded like it was shredding leaves. This Dimplex is the quietest I have tested, can hardly hear it when it's on in my shop, and provides great and quick heat. Last night it was below freezing and I was a comfortable at 65 degrees F inside my 14x28 fully insulated with 8' ceiling garage (R12 walls and R20 Ceilings). Only complaint is when the unit shuts down, element is extremely hot, fan should have a delay and run until element cools as a safety feature and to take advantage of the residual heat in element, just keep unit at least 1 foot from anything that may be effected by this residual heat and it's fine. Other than that it is the best I have tried so far, would recommend this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome little heater Bought this exact unit about 4 years ago, seti it up in my 16x28 insulated garage and MacGuivered a remote thermostat to control the temperature. This unit is still performing like a champ keeping the garage at about 35 F at night and 60+ whenever I turn it up, recovers quickly and is relatively quiet. i did remove the front guard and replaced with a finer strand wire screening, plenty of safety and less resistane to air flow. Would definatel recommend. BTW it only added apprix 30.00 per month to my power bill, but this will cary according to hiw well your insulated and sealed, my garage is almost airtight lol. Hope this helps people decide. Best heater I have tried and I did test and return 3 similar models from other manufacturers before finding this gem. Cape Breton winters low as 0 F with wind chill heater worked great

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well and great heat I've had this model for a few years now, and it's performed flawlessly. Realizing that 4800 watts isn't powerful enough, I used it to help heat my 100 year old, 2-1/2 car uninsulated garage. I'd first heat it up with my 35000 BTU propane unit, then turn on the DCH4831 and shut off the propane. It has performed perfectly and keeps the temp good enough to wear a t-shirt out there in 20 degree weather. If I had the power capability, I'd get another one and forgo the propane altogether. If you have a well insulated building, this might just do the trick for you. Highly recommend!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works well It works very well to warm up the area that was once very freezing and barely warm with the heating solution that we had prior. I would say that it is suitable for a small garage if anyone were to want to buy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good heater.. I normally heat my space with a propane forced air furnace. 20x40 block wall only no wall insulation :( /the propane furnace usually turns on every 5 min or so at -10c outside.. so far just running this heater the furnace hasn't turned on yet. /i think if you needed you could cook a hotdog in front of this heater for lunch if needed. my infra red temp gun shows 340 c 644 f on the coils when its running.. that's pretty good. Good product good buy :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bang for your buck The Heater is quiet and heats my insulated 2 car garage in no time even on a cold winter night (Montreal QC) and I have 12 ' cielings. I find it great value for money so far. I'm not sure how it will last long term as I only just got it but it seems well made. That being said I intend to find my own thermostat that I can leave inline with the heater as a backup. (I had a friend with a similar heater who came home to find his heater thermostat failed and it was running constantly. The plug was melting and he had to turn it off at the braker)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeds expections Bought 3 weeks ago to warm up garage on occasional basis. Our garage is approx 650 sf, 9 ft ceiling, insulated, but 2 somewhat leaky doors. Used 2 days, o/s temp around freezing, increased to around 10 degrees C with heating time of approx 1 hr each day. Cost only approx $1 each day. Very happy to have to take off the chill, when needed.

Would this unit be suitable for use in a fully insulated garage 14x28 with an 8" ceiling

Looking for something to heat garage for winter, want to keep temp about 40 degrees F for the winter months, would this heater be suitable for this purpose?

Answering my own question, works great even and quick heat and very quiet, can hardly hear it running most unless everything is off in garage.

What’s the maximum temperature we can get from this heater?

Asked by: Sam Joseph
That depends on so many things but for instance I hook it into a generator and use it to heat my 16x24 hunting cabin to 65 degrees in the winter.

How noisy is this unit - i.e., can I have it running while carrying a not-loud conversation?

Asked by: nshani
Have no idea what PCM of 160 is - maybe 160 CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute)? In any case, it's relatively quiet, especially when compared (and I did compare) to other box-style space heaters from another store (IIRC, rated @ 300 CFM). It all boils down to blade design & motor speed. One annoying thing is the initial metal rattling that I believe is the result of the heating element holder not holding it tight (if it can, due to expansion?).

How do you plug this in? We need it for a drywall job in a house but there aren't dryer outlets in the bedrooms, of course, so how in the world can this be plugged in? I have scoured the internet looking for an appropriate adapter and found nothing!

would this be able to heat a greenhouse

Asked by: Anonymous
Good morning, This heater is to be used more on a construction site for dry wall and mudding as it is a temporary heat only and I believe that a greenhouse would require constant heat which this model could not provide. Thank you, Customer Support
