Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Canadian made product that looks great. The Embassy Ceiling Tile kit was a pleasure to install. Arrived as four "kits" on special order in reasonably good condition. One cross bar was damaged, I was able to use it as a cut piece. Best suited to a reasonably square room, otherwise the main beams and cross beams won't make tight joints. Installing and levelling the main beams took the majority of the time, the rest went in in about half an hour. Sawdust seems to stick to the parts so be prepared to wipe down all the parts after installation, otherwise it does show plainly in daylight. Now that its finished, my wife and I agree, its a beautiful ceiling. I'll be using it again in a basement bathroom installation next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installation Once you realize its not as forgiving and you "must" use the template to mount the brackets, its a wonderful ceiling and well worth the price. A much better project to have help with then do alone at times as well. Pay close attention however when you slide the long plastic channels into the main 8 foot beams, as at times they might have a bend in them and makes them sway a little. Once the 23.5" x 23.5 tiles are added they do straighten out however. Very easy to cut out the circles and add pot lights, furnace vents, as well as smoke detectors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ceiling Kit I bought enough of this kit to do two rooms, totaling roughly 400 square feet. The ceiling goes in pretty quickly once all the prep work is done. My ceiling was in a 150 year old house and needed tons of strapping. I did one room with 16" spacing and the other with 24" spacing, and would recommend going with 24" if you have the option. Additionally, there is a lot of discussion about the template. It's actually a jig, and is a length of MDF wood with notches cut out to hold two brackets at the right distance apart. One problem is that the notch is just a little too wide, and the brackets easily fall to the floor if you aren't careful balancing things just right. A quick fix is to wrap a strip of duck-tape to either side to close the gap and make the jig hold tight onto the bracket. See the attached picture. Also, I tried fastening the brackets to the ceiling with screws and also with a brad nailer, and I totally recommend using a brad nailer ... just fire the nails in at an angle, using 4 - 6 nails per bracket and it goes soooo much quicker!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not your average suspended ceiling! Product looks great installed. Once we had a couple of kits done and learned the system, the install was smooth sailing. Hung it from the floor joists within an 1" 3/4 from the ceiling. Our basement windows only had 3 inches of space above them so this was the perfect solution to not interfere with the windows. System very easy to remove and replace the tiles, the cross rails slide easily into place. would definitely use the product again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great alternative to the normal suspended ceiling Decided to try this alternative. Although more expensive than the traditional suspended ceiling, it allows for a minimum loss in ceiling height. The time consuming part is installing the anchors, but once done, the install goes quickly. If your room is not the perfect width/length to allow for full panels, you will have to modify the panels accordingly along the sides. To allow for no small pieces, we trimmed each panel and made them rectangular instead of square. Still looks great. Installing the lights, heat diffuser (I made a template first out of cardboard) and smoke detectors was simple. I would definitely use this product again, and recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A little glam to your ceiling The ceiling tile has an elegant finish to a room. Most people make a comment such as "oh what a nice ceiling - I can't believe it is a suspended ceiling", or "what a nice finish to you room with that ceiling". Very pleased - bright white and great finish

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. Easy to install. This product is more durable that I thought it would be and the installation is very forgiving when lines are quite perfect. I decided to deviate from instructions and installed my panels in an staggered manner (see pics) with a panel centered in the room. You don't "need" to line them up if you don't want to and doing this is very forgiving if you have slight variations. It's also great if you wanted to offset recessed lighting for design purposes. Suffice to say, the system is really flexible. I had access to a table saw and Dado blades so I could trim and create new secondary T-Bars easily but doing it the way they suggest works perfectly too. I've very happy with my install and now preparing to do another room. My only recommendation is if using screws to install the clips, pre-drill the holes in the clips as the plastic is a bit brittle. I had a few crack on me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I bought this ceiling 4 years ago. It looked beautiful for about the first year. However, all the tiles have bubbled. I own a new home and the basement is well insulated and not damp. Not quite sure what has happened. Despite several calls and emails sent to company I have not received any response. Very disappointed to say the least considering the high cost. Do not recommend.

Can 2 kits be used together to complete a larger size room ?

Asked by: Sandy
Yes,you can use as many as you need

We have some pipes running under the floor joist vs through them will this product provide me enough clearance. The lines are standard copper lines

Asked by: Weekender79
If your pipes are tight to the joists this product should work as it has a clearance of about 1 3/4". You can create more clearance by screwing 1x3's to the joists and attaching the clips to those. You just lose a little ceiling space.

Can this be installed in a bathroom?

Asked by: Rocky86
As with MDF moldings, Embassy ceiling components can expand and contract when exposed to changes in humidity and temperature. The recommended humidity level is between 45 and 55%. Making sure that the panels are not cut too tightly along the walls and leaving a space between the crossbars and the panel will give the necessary clearance to accommodate any dimensional changes resulting from humidity fluctuations. It is also important to allow the material to acclimatize in the room for 48 hours before installation. We recommend avoiding installing an Embassy ceiling in an area where it may come into direct contact with water.

I have obstacles on the basement ceiling and would need to drop the ceiling 6 inches to clear obstacles. Is there different hangers available ?

Asked by: Gerbear
Make a wood structure to cover the element to be bypassed. Attach the anchors to the wooden structure Stick the main cross bars together to create a 90 degree angle inside and outside. Cut the panels and the secondary crossbars so as to insert them vertically and horizontally between the main crossbars. If you wish, you can use sealant to seal the joints between the main crossbars.

I want to install this in my business. The ceiling is 13 feet and I want to install this at 10'. I am assuming that I need hangers/wires to install at ten feet? Please give me some directions on what I neeed and how to do it. Thank you.

Asked by: Charles
This ceiling is not "drop" style. The first point of attachment for the clips is the ceiling joist. It is designed to provide the maximum ceiling height. This is probably not the right product for your needs.

My house is relatively new and the joists should be fairly straight and level. There is some strapping already up. Question....is it better to attach straight to the joists or is there an advantage to using the strapping. Height is not an issue. thx

Asked by: Lesley
Hi, Thank you for your questions. If the joists are made of 2" x 10" or 2" x 8" material, the vendor recommends installing 5/8" thick wood strips to avoid the pendulum effect in the joints. This pendulum effect may produce a noise in the ceiling when there is movement above.
