Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet fan with an easy install. Pulling out my 30 year old fan was the hardest part. If you have parallel joists the metal bracket makes mounting this trivial. I had to remove a 2x4 support for the old fan - but then things went quickly. This is a DEEP fan. I couldn't find the "remodel" version (which isn't as deep) and bought this one not realizing how deep it was - about the same as the old one I pulled out. It's fairly quiet - it says 0.3 sones but seems only a bit quieter than the 0.9 sone rated Broan I removed. It was a perfect fit for the existing drywall hole. With my old fan I'd tried 3" flex ducting and that was much noisier than the solid 4" I put in an re-used for this fan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderfully quiet fan will be purchasing more I used it to replace a very old and noisy out of production fan. This one is as quiet as advertised. Four stars because the Home Depot size is not the actual size you have to work with. Download the installation PDF as there is a frame with the fan that you need to take into account that is larger than the Home Depot dimensions. The inner frame didn't work for me so I installed it without it. it was too big for my installation. Not a big deal in my case, but could be a show stopper for some folks. Unit is really well thought out for a simple installation, most of your work will be in preparing the hole. I'll be picking up a couple more of these to redo other bathrooms in our house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased. Many flexible mounting options. Has properly designed fan assembly not just a Fan blade in a metal box. Fan assembly removes from enclosure with 3 screws, leaving a metal box to mount, or a fan assembly to clean. Bracket shown in videos does not have to be used. Sealed capacitor run motor looks like it has proper sealed ball bearings not porous bronze bushings. Time will tell if this is true. Most bathroom fans get noisy when the oil-impregnated bronze bushings dry out. Made a bit difference in the condensation in the bathroom and it replaced a Braun bathroom fan that originally cost more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Panasonic from now on! I have frustratingly purchased a Broan, Nutone, nutone with a useless sensor - and if you want something that will suit your home and actually work. Get the Panasonic- watch some you tube and take your time. It was a bit more work to install. Due to the wiring side- i did install a box ( installed everything from below).once i had the length of wire it was simple. - if your at all handy this is easy. The bonus - its works perfectly and is the quietest fan I have had of the 4 brands i tried!!!! I installed a timer switch instead of using a lousy expensive humidity sensor fan! my wifes happy , its reasonably quiet , no steam on the mirror and the timer switch helps a ton when its too hard for teenagers to remember to turn of the fan!! Buy panasonic 1st- save your frustration Allow about 2 hours of time- you will be thankful!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WONDERFUL I love this fan . It is like having a AC unit/ venting dream in the bathroom. There is no moisture on the mirror after a hot shower

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Average What earned the 4th star is the install bracket they have provided. It makes installation easy in comparison with fixed mounts. Other than that the fan is just average. It is not quiet, measured 32dB with a phone app. I have installed cheaper NuTone fans that are more quiet. I guess, worth the money if you dont feel like shopping around. The most quiet option is still an inline axial blower behind the wall.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from WhisperChoice Fan -80-110 CFM This fan is not very quiet as i expexted it should be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very quiet fan I had a contractor install this fan so can't comment on the installation, however, no issues were encountered during the installation. The fan has 2 settings for either 80 or 110 for the amount of air movement. Both settings are quiet and I used 110 as the bathroom is medium sized (8ft by 8ft). I'll be buying another one of these for our powder room and using the 80 setting.

I live in a small condo, i want to use this fan to take away the humidity, since this condo is airtight. How often ca ibrun this fan in intervals of 30 mins? I have an excellent fan now but is very noisy.

Asked by: Zen777
Best and quietest fan we’ve ever owned in 50 + year of owning homes. We installed 4 in our new home. We opted to install a Leviton off / on switch with humidity sensor and timer. All settings are adjustable. Set it and forget it. Leviton #IPHS5-742.

Panasonic fans generally have DC motors for energy efficiently but I don't see in the description. Can you confirm whether this one does or not?

Asked by: Sparks
No, AC motor. Does not see any inverter or other kind of electrical nor electronical device. I don't think this makes the fan less efficient since it is for constant speed and AC motor are extremely efficient also.

Good Day, can this unit be mount vertically in a bathroom wall?

Asked by: Jim H
Shouldn't be a problem, there is nothing in it that is gravity based. Just watch the depth, it is thicker than documented on the product web site. I had to chisel into the ceiling 2x4s to get sufficient clearance. Sorry, can't remember what the actual was, but highly recommend you pick up the manufacture's documentation and double check the measurements to ensure you have sufficient wall clearance.

Can I use this as a wall mount fan? Or ceiling only?

Asked by: Schilt
It depends on the size of your wall cavity, but they do make one with a thin body for wall Mount.

Peut-on faire l'installation de ce ventilateur de salle de bain avec un plafond suspendu? Si oui, de quelle façon. Merci

Asked by: pierre

Merci

Asked by: Vince
Merci

How effective is the damper on this unit in blocking backdraft from the outside, especially during the winter months? Thanks!

Asked by: Gabe
There is a backdraft damper built into the fan. Its effectiveness is dependent on wind forces and direction.
