Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid Product ran for 1 full summer, was stored for for the winter, and no longer functions as of this spring. As its been more than 1 calendar year its no longer covered under warrantee. I know these things aren't going to last decades but less than 2 years, (and only running a few months of that year!) for a unit seems ridiculous. Very expensive lesson on my part, will not be buying Toshiba again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Purchased last spring, did not work this spring I thought this would be a decent product, but I've only used it for 1 year. When I brought it out this season, the compressor no longer starts. Of course the one year warranty is probably up. I do not recommend this unit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing Bought summer 2020, worked for 2 summers. Now spring 2022 and no longer dehumidifying. I don't expect these to last forever, but really, 2 summers? One year warranty so looking for a new one. Won't be another Toshiba.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Failed in 18 months! When it worked it worked it well no attention except to dust off the filter occasionally. It suddenly started to build up ice on the bottom 4 coils while other coils do not get cold at all. The fan runs constantly, the compressor kicks on with the humidistat and the bottom few coils freeze up immediately. Room temp is avg 65-67 when not in use. Unit met expectations for size, ease of use and performance, however failed miserably on longevity. I expected more than 18 months for the price paid!!

Is this uniy able to drain water up and out or does the hose have to flow downward with gravity for draining?

I am inable to find a pump that may be suitable to drain upwards and out a window for continuous draining.

How does this drain with a hose to a floor drain? I followed the instructions to hook up the hose but the unit will only drain to the bucket. No there are no kinks in the hose. I see at least 5 people asking the same question. Defective units? Return?

Hi, Beth. Thank you for your question regarding the Toshiba 50-Pint Dehumidifier. Please ensure the end of the hose entering the floor drain is sloped downward to allow water to flow out smoothly. The hose should not be bent at all either. If you continue to have issues, please email us today at toshibacustomercare@hartehanks.com and reference case number 111495630. Toshiba Customer Care. Is there a setting if i want to use a hose for continuous drain

Asked by: Gary
I don't believe there is an actual setting. You would just have to connect the hose to the unit and have hose go into a drain. There may be a plug where the hose connects on the unit and you may have to pull that out before hooking up the hose.

You instructions and responses to others are wrong for the drain hose. It is not 1? it is 3/4? garden hose fitting. How do I know? I trusted your instructions and bought the wrong stuff.

I recently purchased the 50-pint version and unscrewed the cap and hooked up a hose and adaptor, but the unit keeps filling the bucket. Is there anything additional that needs to be done in order for this to drain into my condensate pump?

I bought this unit in July. 2021. I've been running this unit in the basement, with appropriate clearances. It no longer is drawing water. The fan runs but nothing happens. Where can I have it checked out? Can I drop off the unit locally?

If the warranty is one year make a claim. I had a similar unit that I took to a local HVAC shop and talked them into investigating it. It has a small amount of refrigerant and likely it has leaked out. The shop fixed it for me (the cost was more than half the price of a replacement unit) and it ran for a few more months. When it stopped working again I just purchased another dehumidifier. I still need to investigate where I can take it and likely need to pay to dispose of the unit.

I plan to use a Toshiba dehumidifier with a continuous drain setup. Are the 22 pint, 35 pint, and 50 pint models the same internally (electronics, pump, etc.) with different size water reservoirs?

Hi, CathyS. Thank you for your question about the Toshiba 50-Pint Dehumidifier. Please try the following troubleshooting steps for draining: make sure the bucket is in place, make sure no hoses have any kinks, make sure all hoses are tightly secured, make sure the ends of any hoses are level or down to allow water to flow out, make sure recommended clearance is being met (8 inches of space on all sides, 16 inches of space on top), make sure the unit is operating in an environment between 41 to 90 degrees (F), make sure RH is set between 30% to 80%, make sure all doors and windows are closed, make sure the unit isn't near any dryers, heaters, or radiators, and make sure the filter is clean. Please contact us today at toshibacustomercare@hartehanks.com and reference case number 111486649 if you still experience any issues. Toshiba Customer Care. (BBB A+ Accredited Business)
