Rated 1 out of 5 by from $500 lawnmower destine for the landfill in 3 years As I have found is the case with many Ryobi power tools the batteries are garbage. I had this product for 3 years. I use it only occasionally as I have a small shaded lot. I do all the things you're meant to, charge it periodically throughout the winter, don't run it too low, etc etc. Still I had a warrantee claim on the battery last year. And again this year the battery stopped taking a charge. Just past the warrantee period so I I have $500 piece of trash. I have a dozen battery power tools fron Bosch, a battery leave blower from DeWalt and all of these products continue to work 5+ years. DO NOT BUY RYOBI

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design which causes damage to mower. I used this mower twice. Cuts grass well however there is a design flaw regarding the rear flap. When you pull the mower back the flap goes under the mower as required however when you go forward again the flap does not return to its correct position and results in damaging the mechanism(rod and plastic piece). This mower style has been around for years and RYOBI has failed to correct the flaw. Secondly, if you try to get warranty/repair you will regret buying any RYOBI product. They make it difficult so you give up. DO NOT BUY THIS CHEAP PRODUCT!

My only complaint is that the battery only lasts about 30 minutes. I specifically bought this mower as it claimed 48 minutes battery life, which would be enough to complete our lawn. 30 minutes is not enough, so we have to stop and recharge before we can finish the last part. Buying a second battery would cost half the price of the entire mower!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best mower you can purchase This is the best mower I've ever used. I bought this in the spring to replace my 21" gas beast. This mower weighs about a quarter of the gas unit, so I can do the whole yard without a break. I do the whole yard on half a charge, 3/4 of a charge if it's wet. When it get's to thick spots, it speeds up, it doesn't bog down. Just remember to charge the batteries sometime between jobs and you're good to go. The hardest part will be trying to figure out how to get rid of the old gas mower. Pro: Light, quiet, last long Con: regret not buy one sooner, a bit pricier than gas; but you don't have to mess with gas, oil and maintenance.

I love the mower itself and how it cuts and how the light weight leaves very little wheel tracks on my lawn. But it has already developed an issue where the rear bottom flap has ripped at the seam and has run over itself and shredded part of itself because of that. I have heavily invested in the Ryobi ecosystem this summer, both 40v and 18v (5 products) and I’m hoping Ryobi Canada will reach out to me to resolve this issue without me having to repackage the entire mower and send it in under (5 year) warranty. I’m including photos…

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality mower with lots of power. This mower was easy to set up and does a great job on my medium sized lawn. I like the fast and simple system for folding the handle back for storage. The safety start procedure is easier than my last mower and it is easy to switch from mulching to bagging mode. The battery gives up to 50 minutes of run time and recharges fully in about half an hour. On the down side, the side discharge cover door doesnt give a full seal, so some grass gets stuck in it. Also, there are a few areas on the undercarriage where grass builds up when mowing, and these areas take some effort to clean out. These are minor issues however. Overall it is a good mower at a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive! Best mower ever. We've just had rain for 4 days. Grass 4" to 5" high and THICK. I can't believe how well this mower handled the task. I mulched my wet, tall grass and it didn't stall once where my Lawnboy Honda gas mower used to die multiple times in similar situations. This little Ryobi has plenty of power to spare. It mulches like nothing else I've owned -- never leaves clumpy bits. I have not had issues with it quitting spontaneously. You do need to keep a strong hand on the safety bar, but that's not tough. I love how lightweight this is and how it folds for easy storage. Highly recommend this for a small yard with fast growing, thick grass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A quality, powerful mower Fantastic lawnmower. Didn't want to deal with gas or a corded one, but was concerned about battery life and power. This mower delivers on both fronts. Use it for a cottage property with quite a large amount of grass to mow and the one battery does the full area. Added bonus - whisper quiet! It folds up nicely for storage and isn't very heavy, but still feels solid and reliable. Only have used the mower for a few months at this point so can't write about its durability, but it feels like it is well made. Couldn't be more happy with this purchase.

The manual says to push and hold the start button but with mine i have to push the start button twice if it hasn't been started in the last few minutes. Is this normal?

Can we get real reviews that aren't all paid promotions?

I've had mine 2 years now and it works quite well for my small yard. Easy to maneuver, gives a good cut and is quiet. Not sure on actual runtime as I have a small yard, but I get a few cuts done on one battery charge. Durability has been good so far. I have some armour stone steps I have to drag the mower up and down each time. Doesn't feel as solid as a gas machine but probably doesn't have to put up with as much stresses you get on those?

Can I also use my ryobi 40V 7.5 amp batteries I have for my ryobi snowblower in this lawnmower? I see it comes with a 40V 6 amp battery.

Anyone used it beyond 2-3years on same battery? what is the expected lifetime of the 40v 6AmH battery? For me, it lasted just 13 months. Ryobi customer support had no answer to battery life ques.

Why does this mower make a real flap noise when trying to back up with it? What’s wrong?

The rubber at the back of the unit is suppose to block the clipper grass flying behind into your feet. Otherwise your boots/shoes become dirty with the grass clipper. This is an extra feature. So when you are mowing back and forth the piece of rubber flips back and forth as well thus making a noise. I am not bothered with this.But if you don't like the noise you can take off that piece of rubber. My old lawn mover did't have this rubber.

It looks like there is 2 battery slots, can you install 2 batteries, and I am also wondering about the life cycle of these batteries, if they need to be replaced a few years down the road will they be available?

There are two slots but one is just for storing a spare battery, it does not power the mower. I had my mower for 3 year and I use other ryobi products, batteries have been great have not noticed any decrease in capacity in 3 years.
