Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost Amazing The chipper and how it functions is great. That i have no problem with. The axle is about 20” from end to end. Its absolutely under engineered. I had this chipper assembled for two days when it rolled over going around a corner. The safety chains on the tonge are a joke. They have key chain strength snap links that tore away instantly. I spent the better part of 20 hours redesigning and fabricating the axle, tongue, tongue jack, wiring and skid frame. Installed new safety chains that will actually do something in the event the chipper disconnects from my truck. I now have something that is road worthy and just needs fenders and lights. I would have gladly paid another $700 to get a better designed product. Like i said, the chipper is great. It works better than i expected but the towing system was complete garbage from the start and will absoluly tip over going over a bump or around a corner at even 10 mph without serious modification. My repairs cost me about $175 in materials at a local steel yard. They should have just built it right from the factory

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality Control take the day off?? So my machine was plagued with issues. Weld slag preventing parts fitting, loose hardware, and "pre-assembled" was only partially assembled. After assembling with the instructions that I had to download, because including them in the box would make sense, I was ready to fire it up. Add the oil and gas, pull the cord and it fired right up. I feed a 1" stick into the machine and the machine becomes unglued! Shut it down, and find that 1 of the 2 blades has liberated. Seems they forgot the locktite at the factory on the 5 bolts holding in one of the blades and hence ruined this machine. Not impressed at all. Called the factory and got a "return it" and they would send out another unit. Needless to say I declined to replacement, as I do not want to go through renting a trailer to get it home, building it again, and having a potential failure. Home Depot returned my money without any issues, thank you! I will just rent a unit when I need one, at least I know it works!

Crated chipper on its own pallet fit in 6 foot bed of my truck. The Bad: Chipper wouldn't start. Turns out the safety switches were grounding engine. Fixed it myself. Safety chain too short.Overall: Once started, the Kohler engine is great. Hydraulic feed is superb. Throws chips 40 feet or more. The mechanics are good, the electrical is not.

I've rented commercial sized wood chippers that sell for $25,000 and this one works almost as well for a 5th the cost. It was fairly easy to assemble with decent instructions. I recommend watching their assembly videos on their website, it made it easier. The ease at witch this machine operates makes limb clearing a breeze. And now I can work at my own pace when I want, and not have to plan and schedule renting one. The electric start and auto feed features make this worth the price. I can place limbs that are 20ft long in the hopper and the auto feed does the rest. If you have a large area of small trees you need to cut and or trim and don't want to hall the limbs somewhere, this wood chipper is for you.

The OPC505AE chipper is a 4.8 star product with just minor things that are stopping it from being a perfect 5 stars. The reason for a 4 is because when I emailed the manufacturer for further into to help setup the machine I did not get the answer to the question I was asking. The questions I had were: Does the engine need to be broken in? Does the unit come with hydraulic fluid already in the tank? I got answered the engine uses 10-30w oil and the hydraulics do not need to be broken in....... On to my review, first of all, the setup. YES you need to buy a gallon of hydraulic oil. I had a major pain trying to attach the hydraulic lines and controls to the chute. It was extremely annoying and I almost gave up to wait for a friend to help. The battery terminal in the rear was difficult to reach but doable. Everything else was very easy and straight forward. I used my shop auto lift to pick up the unit and slide the crate base out from under it. Not sure what I would have done otherwise, maybe just make a sturdy ramp to wheel it off the crate??? I made a plate for my riding mower to accept a 2" ball so I can move it around my property, I need a way to make it lift a little higher since the front feet are too low and scrape the ground sometimes. Initial use: I started and ran the chipper for about an hour or two at about half throttle to get the motor going and slightly broken in with no load. The instructions mention nothing about breaking in, so I went off my other chipper's procedure of half throttle for 5 hours. After a couple hours I reved it up and put some smaller 1.5" to 2" Douglas fir through it. It devoured them. After another couple hours of feeding the smaller stuff through it I started to put the bigger fir branches in. Went up to 4" and it handles them with ease. I love having the hydraulic drum to stop the branch and let the motor recoup before taking more branches! It beats fighting with the angry little chippers that just pull stuff in and won't let go. I put some vine maple in ranging from 1" to 3" or so and you can tell the wood is a lot harder. Even a 3" maple bogs the engine down. Again, the hydraulics come in very handy to stop and wait then feed again. The nice large mouth means I don't have to cut branches off the main branch as much so I get more work done. Even when there is a Y that needs cutting use the hydraulics to stop the feeding and trim the piece, then keep going. It is an amazing feature and was the selling point for me. What would I change? I think the hydraulic fwd/stop/revs control being under the chute is a little annoying because with a branch in the way you can't get to it easily. It should be on the side of the chute somewhere. A bit better instructions as far as needing to add hydraulic oil and engine break in recommendations. The hydraulic lines attachment to the chute almost seemed like the lines just needed to be a bit longer. There are two green/yellow wires that are not connected to anything and I don't know what they are for, instructions could use info saying to invite them. All in all this thing is a beast and I love it. I am extremely happy with my purchase. For the last 6 years I have been using a chipper from a well known cheaper retailer with a 212cc motor and 3" capacity but I just got tired of fighting the branches and having to unbolt things to unclog it and put all back together. I almost went with the slightly smaller version of the Detail K2 chippers with the claimed 6" capacity but I really wanted the hydraulic feature and I am very glad I got it. Conclusion is that if you want or need a big chipper for large branches and this is in your budget, you WANT this chipper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Opg777 Stump Grinder. Very impressed! Over the years we had accumulated many stumps on the wooded property surrounding our cabin. I decided to try the DK2 Stump Grinder. Honesty, for $1,200 I wasn’t expecting much. I figured if I ground 10 stumps before it disintegrated, I would break even. It arrived as advertised. Assembly was straightforward. It was beefier, a higher quality than I’d expected. The 14 hp Koehler engine started easily. I really put it to the test. I ground 8 stumps the first day, and I was pretty bushed, but very impressed. These stumps were not small. The smallest was over a foot in diameter, and 3 were pine stumps over 3 feet in diameter. Over a few days, grinding a few hours a day, I ground a total of 29 stumps. They averaged over 2 feet in diameter, a variety of pine, cedar, oak, sweet gum. After about 15 stumps, I had to replace the belts. My fault because I had not tightened them. I just bought $20 V belts at the auto parts store and they worked great. After 20 stumps it threw a grinding tooth. The unit comes with a complete set of replacement teeth. So I replaced the tooth, but it kept throwing the same tooth. Turns out the mount in the grinding wheel was not right. I called the manufacturer, and they sent another wheel, and another complete set of teeth at no charge. Overall, I really like the machine, and highly recommend it. It is far better quality than I expected for the price. A word of caution. A stump grinder takes a heck of a beating. You have to tinker with this machine to keep it aligned and functioning. Also the grinder weighs over 200 pounds and moving it and using it takes strength and effort. I am 63 years old, and I’m no weightlifter, but you’ll need to be in decent shape to use this machine.
