Rated 2 out of 5 by from Expected Much More... Needs better lighting I own several Extech products so when I went shopping for an inspection camera I kept coming back to it. The ratings were good, the specs were good, the price was on the higher side compared to others in the same category but it looked like it was the best choice. I also purchased the extension so I would be ready for anything. The reason I wanted an inspection camera was for construction, running low voltage communication, data, and electrical. It finally showed up a couple days ago, opened it up last night, read the manual, plugged in the charger for the unit, installed the batteries and set it aside until today. Everything is pretty straight forward, manual is thorough, case has a spot for everything including a spot for the extension if you have it. Even come with the batteries. The memory card does not secure easily but other than that it seemed fine. Until I tested it. The lighting is not near enough. Can't see much of anything inside the walls until the head is up close and personal with the side, top, or bottom. The bendable cable does not maneuver well and with the screen attached it's is all over the place. I took off the screen and had it approx. 2 feet from the handle-set and had lines running through the screen which made things confusing. I finally decided to drill an extra hole to add some lighting. It helped some but it's difficult to direct the lighting to work with the scope. What sealed the deal was adding the extension. The extension doesn't support the smaller bendable cable w/camera so you are constantly fighting gravity. Too much money for too much headache. Like I said I got this, then tested it for use in construction. Maybe other applications would be better suited however, in my opinion you're wasting your money if you want to use it for construction related issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Roots in the pipes! I had a problem with some back up in the guest bathroom tub. It was very gross. After cleaning it out and talking to my plumber, he told me that it would cost $350. for them to come out and scope the pipes to see why the tub kept backing up when it was not even in use. I told him I would wait a while and see how things went. I used this in the bath tub drain and was able to see roots growing in my pipe. Because it was damage to the underground pipe, my insurance covered the repairs. This is more than worth the cost. I can also think of many interesting uses for it! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Handy I'm not going to pretend I'm a pro or have experience with borescopes - I'm just a homeowner who wanted a handy tool to check drains and behind walls to run cables and such. This thing gets the job done. It's simple to use, and the video is good quality. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! This scope has been very helpful! Sometimes you just need a different angle on a project to see what is going on and this scope give you that option and more! For one handed operation you can attach the screen to the camera handle. Or you can operate it separately since it will transmit the image wirelessly. You can also capture pictures and video to review later. I've used it to diagnose engine leaks in hard to see areas, found/snaked wiring in walls, etc. Very handy tool! Rated 4 out of 5 by from My Little Eye Recent plumbing issues left me needing something to extend my view into the wall. I had seen this product and others like it for a while and knew this is what i was going to need to fix the pipe. I was able to feed the camera end into an evasive hole without having to create major repair projects and was able to snake around to find the issue. Utilized this camera to assist check out an issue in the engine housing of the car too. Easily mobile and the view on the camera is a bit smaller than others I had seen but still works great for what I need. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing scope This is an amazing scope. My truck has been making some noise towards the rear of the engine so I removed the plugs and used the scope to peer into the cylinder to see if there was any bad signs. The scope was clear and the adjustment for brightness on the led is great. The camera is very clear and the wireless feature was nice for tight spaces. I have not had the chance to try all this camera has to offer like vid capture on the included memory card and so much more. It comes with absolutely everything you need. You can get an extra 8 foot cable but I have not seen a bubble cap to scope plumbing. I can only imagine how well this scope would work to inspect wall cavities to run wires for items such as home theatre cables and so on...but I know my work in the future just got a little easier being able to plan for obstacles in the wall. This is is a definite toy worth having in the tool collection...and the quality is superb while the price is perfect. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool to have We used this to scope our very old heater ducting in our vacation place. YIKES, kind of scary the things we saw in there. It was built in the early 60's and doesn't appear to have every been cleaned. We discovered a few holes in the duct work so that was a good thing to get repaired to save on our heating bill. Next we are going to explore under the house to see how the crawl space looks and see if there are any water leaks or other issues unknown to us. Easy to follow instructions. Nice display screen. Only negative is that there is a limited close up detailed view so it wouldn't be good for something that required close up details. Easy for a beginner to use. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good tool for inspection. Takes some training to use. Using a borescope is actually kind of difficult. You will need to practice before you can use this tool to inspect equipment or hard to reach places. Orientation is the first challenge, the camera doesn't always stay upright. Next is the size of the things you see on the screen. Depth perception is difficult. With that said once you know how to use it's quite valuable. The camera is long and flexible. The light is bright enough to see a few feet or very close up. The screen can be detached and transmits the signal from about 20 feet away. Removing the screen helps with orientation. I'm really happy with this product compared to lower cost borescopes. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
