Is this mat safe on composite decks

The mat should be fine, however any non-porous mat on a deck of any material can hold moisture. It's a good idea to lift and clean underneath periodically.

We've just purchased the Grill Pro BBQ mat to protect our deck floor. Is there a right side and a wrong side to this mat? Which side is up and which side is down? There seems to be a difference.

Can this be safely used with an electric pellet smoker?

Thank you for your question. Assuming the electric pellet smoker is a residential outdoor model suitable for use on a deck with no other special requirements, this item may be a suitable choice. Always best practice to read the smoker owners manual regarding its proper use and any related restrictions. This mat is not designed to catch ash or be in proximity to heat, flames or sparks. It’s original design is for gas grills, but it may work in this application. Happy smoking!

What chemical is on this mat. I put it down on my deck for a week. I now have moved the mat to pressure wash the whole deck and it has discolored and stripped my deck where the mat was ruining the deck.

In order to properly address this question, please call in to our customer service department at 1-800-265-2150 as we may need some more details in order to properly address this. There are no chemicals on the mat, and we have confirmed this with the factory (domestic) that produces these. In their long experience discoloration is very rare but can occur if moisture is trapped under the mat, or there is uneven exposure to UV. If the deck is treated with a coating or varnish, the oils may "sweat" as well. For further information and to discuss, please contact us directly.
