Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk wood I purchased 4x4x12's ground contact from HD over two deliveries, for a pair of raised gardens. The first lot was all Sienna labelled, more or less brown, but ugly with large knots and dripping sap. I tried to arrange my cut pieces so as to hide the ugly. I wasn't happy, but what's the choice if I want ground contact rated wood? I realized partway through that I'd underestimated, and ordered a second delivery. This lot was a piebald mess and not even brown. The labeling is different, too, although the label does claim to be copper azole. At first I thought to use the ugly things, but no, they're going back. And yes, of course it warps. That's already started, but from other reviews, I knew enough to restrain it (weights and strapping) until it was firmly screwed down.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Twisted Bought these for a landscaping project but 2 were so twisted they were unusable. The rest twisted after the project was complete. Will have to redo the entire thing next year. Will definitely NOT purchase any more 4x4 at Home Depot. The sales person filling my order should eithre have lessons on selecting lumber or glasses. No place for zero stars or I would have given it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ordered 50+ various sizes of the MicroPro Sienna During the pandemic when stores were closed, I ordered 50+ various sizes of the MicroPro Sienna from 6x6 to whatever my 12'x16' deck needed from Scarborough West. Out of the 50+, maybe 3-4 pieces were not in top shape, which is ok because I can still utilize them and if I had chosen my own lumber, it would not have been better lumber pieces than whoever chose my wood. The wood is beautiful. I just started working with it after 2 months, because endless rains started for weeks and I yet had to tear down my old deck, set my footings, etc. So yes, definitely what I was sent by Home Depot is a 5-star lumber I received. Thank you for such great service and quality. You have me as a trusting loyal customer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not at all Like the Image I went to my local Home Depot to personally look at different types of treated lumber that I'm considering for planned home construction project. None of the Micropro lumber products resemble anything close to the images provided on the Home Depot web page. It looks more like badly weathered, untreated lumber. Too bad. I would have preferred to use a more environmentally friendly product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap imitation! I have purchased thousands of dollars on this so-called pressure treated wood and it it the worst product no matter what dimension you order. This is how it works; supplier want to raise prices and HD says no. So supplier does what they need to to lower cost. In this case, they undersize lumber and only keep wood in treatment vats for enough time that the Copper naphtalates Only penetrate the first millimetre of wood. Essentially, you are using regular pine that will last maybe a year longer than untreated pine. If you look at my photo, you will see the complete lack of penetration on the 4X4. A real piece of PT lumber will only have a small white core that is untreated. Such a sham. I don’t mind if they raise their prices to be a fair market price for a good quality item. A deck made with this junk will need to be rebuilt faster than you could imagine. How much does that cost!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad lumber Had to send the employee back twice for half descent posts. Finally we took the 3 rd choice as he was disgruntled and we were tired. Next time we will try Castle lumber.

Is this rated for ground contact i.e. retaining wall?

Asked by: T Sop
We used them for a window well two years ago, I believe it’ll be many years before they rot because they were placed on a good gravel base allowing for drainage.

I received a reply to my question and was told it is for ground contact. I went to Home Depot today and found the 2"x4"x8' and 1/2"x4'x8' are both labelled for Above Ground only, did not had a chance to check out the 4"x4"x8'.

will not last in direct contact, should be in post pockets, or on a pad with layer of roofing paper under
