A word of caution: don’t use next to your body or legs as the rear wheel guard does not enclose the cutting edge of the blade as it’s operating. I frayed my jeans near my right pocket.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from looks great I was extreemly exited to see ridged is finaly producing a portable band saw. I have had this for quite a while. Initaly it worjed great, but as time went on it had went down hill. It apears to be complet made ofnplastic which has caused the blade to loose tention over time. I started leaving the blade untintioned when not in use and that helps but it still constanly grinds on the bearings and the blade pops off all the time.

The blade that came with it more of an all material blade which cuts metal, but it better suited for softer material. I replaced the blade with a 24TPI blade and it cuts smoothly through metal which is what I bought it for. The blade is fussy to remove, it just takes a little patience. The saw is fairly light and well balanced and the power is good. I like it and would buy it again.

blade won't stay on

I took a chance even though I saw reviews that the blade comes off. sure enough, mine would too. I returned it and got a refund, I did order another since all my drills and batteries are Ridgid. so far this one seems ok. you guys need to look into this
Asked by: mike
When applying too much pressure onto the material being cut the pressure will shift the blade and its tension and make it move until eventually it will come off. That issue is true to any band saw Rigid brand or otherwise, handheld or stationary. To eliminate or mitigate this issue, keep the rubber on the rollers/wheels clean and free of shavings/debris and ensure the blade guides are properly aligned. I clean mine once every few days of heavy use or at a minimum once a week. Just like my stationary band saw which I clean after every use since that one is used less. That saw is over 20 years old and has never had a blade slip.

Blade falls off

The blade falls off if the saw is put in any kind of bind. It wont even cut a 3/4” rigid conduit without the blade falling off at least twice. Any advise??

does anyone know where I can buy extra blades ?
Asked by: Timmy
You can get them at any hardware store that sells 32- 7/8 inch compact bandsaw blades. As for whoever it was that replied from the RIDGID Power Tool Team I think you need to do a little bit more research because this saw will not take a 35-3/8 blade like the Milwaukee it will except their old style blade which is 32-7/8 .

Can anyone with experience with other bandsaws tell whether this one is heavy on the front end (motor end) for one-handed use? Also, is the material stop easy to adjust (toolless)?
Asked by: Dlrock
Yes this saw is very front end heavy even compared to the Dewalt or a Milwaukee, I have a Milwaukee and my buddy that I work with has the dewalt and neither of ours is as nose heavy as this saw.

Will RIDGID ACTUALLY HONOR the LIFETIME WARRANTY on this product?
Asked by: GShock75
I would not bank on it. 8-9 years ago I bought a ridgid combo kit with recip saw, drill, impact, flashlight, charger, and two batteries. I registered the purchase immediately according to instructions. The first battery was replaced under warranty about 4 years after purchase. A few months later the second battery needed replaced and they refused to replace it.
