Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favorite toy I have been waiting years for the green version of this to come out, I am a professional woodworker and I have used several corded brands of this type of sander. The dust collection bag is actually half way decent but I bought a universal dust collection kit from a specialty woodworking store that fits my tools perfect and hooks to my shop vac. This is a very good tool, very comfortable to use and it is great for me since I have such a small work area and I don't have to trip over cords anymore. You can't go wrong if you use the right sandpaper and let the tool do the work for you. It works best with the 4 AH batteries.

Picked this up as I had a few finishing projects around the house, and it made sanding so much more enjoyable. I figured no cord would be awesome (it is), but I was especially impressed with the dust system RYOBI built into this. With the holes built into the sandpaper, it actually vacuums the dust right into the bag. Didn't realize how well it was working until the bag was completely full and there was no more room to collect the dust! Made for a much cleaner and enjoyable sanding experience for sure. Very happy with this purchase.

I’m real happy with this cordless sander despite the fact that I had to return the first one that failed after couple of days. But it’s real easy to return things at Home Depot and the replacement that I ordered online was already there when I returned the first. Then did about 4 hours of fairly heavy sanding with coarse sandpaper but had to change battery often. I was able keep going for hours because I have three batteries (for 5 different Ryobi tools) and two chargers which were charging most of the time while I was sanding. The cordless sander is convenient because there’s no cord that gets in the way and it does a great sanding job with no swirl marks.

I used it to sand my fence and it did a fantastic job. I used it the entire weekend sanding 1000 square feet of cedar wood with 60 grit sand paper. My only complaint is that it burns through batteries really, really fast. It doesn't come with a battery so make sure you have plenty of compatible Ryobi batteries and chargers. I had a rotation of 5 batteries with 3 chargers and I would still run into periods where I would have to wait for charging b/c the sander ran them down too fast. If you are doing a big job you might want to consider a corded model, although the freedom no cord provides is also really nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect compliment to the one+ system I've been waiting for the green/newer version of this sander since purchasing other one+ tools. Having a cordless sander is much more convenient then the corded version for someone like me who doesn't always work near outlets. This sander works pretty simply: turn it on and let it go. There's no speed control but for the uses I need it to do that doesn't matter to me. The only negative I have noticed is that the shape and weight distribution can make it feel a bit heavy when sanding "mid-air" or anything not flat on a table. This happened to me when sanding down the lengths of a pallet wood project. I wouldn't consider it a major negative because it only happens in special situations over a longer duration.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of power Great sander. Cannot understand the negative reviews. This things has plenty of power. The wood I'm sanding starts moving around if I don't secure it. So clearly it's not underpowered. It does go through batteries quickly. But the box states the big battery will last about 40 minutes. Thus, the small batteries last up to 20 min. You can't count that against the product if they tell you up front what to expect from the battery. But on the up side, it's cordless. I love that. The money you save over the more expensive sanders can be used to buy an extra battery if you are so inclined. God bless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for attachment to a reach pole [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I already had a Ryobi model P400 hand sander that I purchased a long time ago (when Ryobi tools were Blue & Grey). I needed to sand the facia on my home but wanted to use the pole attachment (see pictures below) to do it and that attachment wouldn't fit the old sander. So because I really like Ryobi One+ tools, I invested in this new Random Orbit Sander. The pole attachment fit this sander perfectly and allowed me to use this new sander to work on the facia of my home from the ground rather than on a ladder. It has plenty of power without adding excessive weight and the dust bag attachment is a real plus. Now I was able to sand from the ground and it really gets the job done. Nearly all my power tools are Ryobi One+ and I really recommend them to both homeowners and professionals.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A perfect finish This sander produces a smooth perfect finish! I was surprised at how comfortable it sits in the hand during operation. Although other reviewers claim that it is not a random orbit sander, I have had no problems with it and it seems to work exactly as Ryobi has advertised it to. It can and will remove material very quickly, so be mindful of the pressure you are exerting during use. As always, I use Diablo sand paper packs with this product and have had excellent results. Pair this up with a corner cat sander, and you have the perfect combo. The built in dust collection also works wonderfully, and provides plenty of suction to remove dust and put it in the included bag. A vacuum can also be attached easily to the dust port.

The 16 gallon Rigid shop vac has to big of diameter openings for the sander. Maybe a smaller unit or brand will fit.
