Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the money I had an a/c clutch electromagnet to remove from the compressor. Two of the three phillips screws stripped their heads when I tried to remove them. I saw the reviews of this set were mixed but I thought I would give it a go. Worked perfectly for me. I am by no means an expert but I think "slow and steady" is the key when using these. Once I had drilled a hole deep enough into the screw (to allow the extractor to get enough purchase) the screw came out. My only issue is that the "flats" on the end of the extractors could do with being more pronounced as getting an adjustable wrench onto them was a bit of a challenge. They are certainly worth a go at the price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Didn't Work For My Situation, May work for Others This did not work for the job I got it for, but seems like a reasonable product that may work for other situations though. I was trying to remove a REALLY stuck screw (rusted in) that was also really stripped from an atv braking fluid cap. I was aware that I did not want to drill too deep into the screw, but the extractor just seemed to be making the whole bigger, rather than catching in the screw (the head was really stripped to be fair). I kept drilling a little deeper, then eventually the extractor did catch, but by that point I had drilled into the shaft of the screw, so the extractor only took the head off the screw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got me out of a real bind. Spark plug broke off at the threads inside the engine of my ZX6R-636 (NGK CR9E) I was able to use the second largest extractor to extract the threads stuck in the head without damaging the head. This saved me from a full top end rebuild, which would have cost $400 just in parts.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works a bit I thought that a selection of 5 extractor bits at $12.99 would be a good value. I needed to remove several rusted screws holding a gate hinge. The product worked really well for the first 3 screws. I was very pleased, but I noticed that the threads on the bit head was starting to wear. By the 5th screw, the bit was no longer biting into the screw head. To finish the job, I needed to use another sized bit. I expected the bits to withstand more use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Un *MUST* pour tout ceux qui utilisent des vis Quelle merveilleuse invention!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as intended These extractors work exactly as intended. As others have stated in their reviews, these will work best with new construction where the screw head has been stripped beyond use. I picked these up to extract a 6/32 1 1/2" Robertson machine screw (using the #1 bit) from an electrical outlet that had been stripped. When drilled correctly first, and the extractor then used in reverse to unscrew, this worked when all other solutions failed. I recommend using a quality small drill bit first to clear the cavity. Definitely part of my toolbox from now on.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't work for me I was repairing a deck, removing boards and some screws weren't forthcoming. These weren't what I was expecting to buy but all that was available. In hindsight I don't see how they can work given that the the threaded end is so long. How are you going to get that in a stripped screwhead? Maybe they work on a soft metal like brass but for deck screws I couldn't make these work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality, Very Strong Had to extract an broken off spark plug which was practically welded tight. Used the Ryobi 3/8 extractor and adapters to attach a 1/2" drive. I was really worried to break the extractor, after reading some of the reviews, because then I would have been doomed (engine would have had to come out and cylinder head removed). But despite having to apply some brute force (I made sure however that the tools were well supported and that I only applied rotational force) the extractor held and saved my day.

Does this include the drill at the opposite end of the extractor or the drill bit for making the initial hole (pilot hole) required to be bought sepearately?

Asked by: ashoksaha
Hi ashoksaha, You will need to purchase this drill bit separately. Thank you, Ryobi Canada Team.
