Used the StrongDrive screws rather than nails and there wasn’t any splitting of the stringers, but having to line them up on the porch end joist in the right spot and then screw into that before installing the stringers was not as easy as I was expecting. Maybe there’s a better way. The 3 stars isn’t due to product defect, just difficulty installing.

It's more than a year since your question posted and I just bought seven at my local HD. Like other items, these may go out of stock at your local HD from time to time. If so, you can provide your email address to be notified when they are back in stock.

Will this connector support a solid 2x12 stair stringer? If you have 3 connectors, does this triple the allowable lbs?

Asked by: Ben
Yes it does, you wont need three unless you have three stringers, I used two per stringer

The diagram shows a 3-1/2" minimum distance from the edge of the rim joist in a cantilevered install. Does the LSC bracket always need to be 3-1/2" inset from the edge of the rim joist?
Asked by: KCL1252
The Stimpson standard is not to place the end of the LSC bracket nearer than 3 1/2 " from the edge of the rim joist. I suspect that the reason for the minimum distance to to insure that there is sufficient wood in the joist above the bracket so that the joist does not split when the stair stringers are loaded up. Following Stimpson standards is my recommendation for installation. '

Would this work on 2x6x12 ramp stringers/joists?

I'm using four 2x6x12 with 4x8 subfloor on top. Total rise is only 20". Mostly concerned with hole spacing with 5.5" width since weight will be 350lbs max at any given time.
Asked by: Dogrescue
I would suggest referring to the Stimpson web site and specifications for the load that can be carried by the structure you are suggesting. My experience has been with a stair way covering a similar span, and it is not unusual to have two people on the stairs at one time which would give a similar live load.
