Rated 3 out of 5 by from Suntop panels for my pergola I purchased the Suntop grey panels only because my preferred choice (Suntuf Solar Grey) is not available anywhere in Canada west of Toronto. The manufacturer (Palruf) has had some issues with re-stocking and couldn’t say when stores in western Canada would receive any more panels of any type. The Solar grey would allow 35% light through to my covered deck but Suntop grey will only allow 5% light. So far this hasn’t really been a big drawback, just not what I wanted. The polycarbonate panels seem sturdy but flexible. Be aware that Suntuf and Suntop have different profiles and you need to buy the appropriate horizontal and vertical closure strips. I had to search 4 different stores in Edmonton to find all the strips needed. My on line search for any alternate to Palruf turned up nothing comparable in the area, so if you want a poly roof for your pergola this is pretty much it. I expect that these panels will hold up well as we go through the seasons, but will wait for the next big hailstorm to be sure.

I want to use this for a raised vegetable garden, instead of using corrugated galvanized steel. How will this hold up to damp garden soil? Thanks Jason

Asked by: JA17
These panels will have no problem with damp/wet soil, however due their thinness they are quite flexible and would to be reinforced along the outside as the pressure of your soil and water will put a lot of force pushing them outwards. I’ve used brown pressure treated 2x6 and. Still had to drive stakes down along the sides to keep the boards straight. I’m not sure how you would join the corners to make a water tight seal either. You would have to be careful using shovels around it as I could see chipping or cracking the panels might be possible.

I'm considering using this product for interior shower stall walls, rather than corrugated metal, can an adhesive be used to secure it to the backing?

Asked by: jody16
SUNTOP® is an opaque low-density corrugated polycarbonate sheet. It combines rigidity, impact resistance and light weight with a service range spanning all enviornmental temperatures. Suntop comes in bright long-life colours and has a co-extruded UV protective layer. Suntop sheets are great for all types of roofing and cladding applications where light transmission is not required. Adhesives must be polycarbonate friendly. Please contact adhesive manufacturer and use adhesive that is Polycarbonate friendly.

How do I finish the peak of the roof. Is there a v shaped accessory to buy?

Asked by: Neil
For the peak of the roof or ridge you would typically use a ridge cap flashing. I have attached the link to the Installation Guide and you can see on page 6 the ridge cap flashing.
