Why Plywood? Simply because it outperforms all substitute wood-based panels on the market today. Plywood is a highly stable panel. When exposed to moisture or high humidity, plywood is up to seven times more resistant to thickness swell than substitute wood-based panels. Plywood also returns to its original dimensions when it dries. Plywood is stronger than substitute wood-based panels in the four important engineering strength properties of bending, tension, compression and planar shear and plywood weighs up to 40% less than substitute wood-based panels of equivalent thickness. Plywood is a highly impact-resistant panel and continues to perform even when wet. Plywood has over 50 years of proven service as a structural panel for homes and construction and remains, according to surveys, the panel of choice by home buyers, contractors, architects and engineers.
For DIYers and professional tradesmen who recognize the importance of going green and using natural timber harvested in a responsible manner, turn to this FSC-certified PureBond Maple Plywood from Columbia Forest Products. Each 3-ply sheet features a decorative maple veneer on the face, which exudes the warmth and beauty of natural hardwood to supply your carpentry creations with visual allure. Furthermore, the 1/4 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft. panels are manufactured with a soy-based PureBond adhesive that is formaldehyde-free so it wont deteriorate air quality, as is common with UF-constructed sheets that are susceptible to releasing airborne contaminants over time. Intended for interior use, these maple plywood panels are an affordable way to craft authentic hardwood-faced masterpieces such as built-in cabinets, entertainment centres, shelves, and more.
TruFlor 4 ft. x 8 ft. T&G panels are ideal for the sub-floor construction of residential single and multi family houses as well as light commercial construction and modular mobile homes. TruFlor rated structural panels are manufactured using wood strands and waterproof adhesives, and do not contain added urea-formaldehyde resins. The wood strands are arranged in cross-oriented layers to provide strength and performance properties similar to equivalent thicknesses of plywood. The result is a structural engineered wood panel that is consistent in quality with no core voids. No special tools are required to work with the panels. TruFlor sub-floor panels, with a grade stamp, are certified by the APA (The Engineered Wood Association) to ensure the quality is built into every panel and that it meets North American building codes.
A plethora of application opportunities exist within the realm of the S4S board family. Surfaced Four Sides boards (S4S) are used for cabinetry work, shelve frames, and other utilitarian uses. These are the foundations for build up combination detailing and designs. They can be used in conjunction with other smaller decorative components such as: back bands, base caps, coves, and base shoes. By using your creative spirit these items will appear to be one.
