Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Poorly Designed I bought this on 5 Aug 2021 and I will return it next week. The vacuum must be held at a steep angle so that the mouth is on the ground before it will pick up leaves. It becomes very heavy with the battery and the accumulated leaves. I certainly cannot hold it like a leaf blower with my arm hanging down. Perhaps it is meant to be used after blowing the leaves into a pile. For my very small yard it went through a battery charge and half the next one. By comparison, one 40V battery in my Ryobi mower, mowed my lawn, same battery edged the lawn and I could blow about half of the cleanup. The leaf vacuum/mulcher cries out for a major redesign.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Works great until it doesn't I bought a Ryobi 40V leaf vacuum in 2020 and used it for a few months. I have two large arbutus trees that drop their leaves in June/July. The leaves are small, dry and mulch easily. The Ryobi tool was great, until all of a sudden it stopped working, so I returned it. I bought another one in May 2021, used it for a couple months, and it stopped working too, so am returning it tomorrow. I will not buy another, which is a disappointment as I have a Ryobi 40V grass trimmer and hedge trimmer, and these tools work great, and it would be nice to have a brand of tools with interchangeable batteries.

It works well at cleaning up a raked pile of leaves, however isn't great at pulling up unraked leaves. I have found it will clog easily also if you try to pick up too much at once. It's very silly that they designed the opening wider than the rest of the vacuum wand. I'd honestly probably return it, if I hadn't waited too long and thrown out the box.

To the main problem - Wheel broke, called for warranty was told not covered. I have three 40V Ryobi products and as a result of my first service inquiry will not buy another product. I though Ryobi would stand by their product, I guess I was wrong. If I could I would return this unit.

After racking 100 feet of pine needles into a row I decided to see if this vacuum them up. I was pleased with the results No more bending over to fill 10 to 15 garbage bags we now only used 4 1/2 bags and easy to empty the vacuum bag. Now off to the lake and try it on leaves. No doubt this unit is not made to walk around your yard but rather pile the leaves and then vacuum them up.  Pros: easy to assemble, fairly quiet, bag easy to dump  Cons. Tend to plug up (not sure about dry leaves yet), bag kept unhooking from below front hook. Also used 2 1/2 4 ha batteries to do this So far this unit has exceeded my expectations.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Save yourself, Just don’t buy it I bought this today, wish I didn’t. It’s heavy, the wheels are a joke, the bag is not easy to empty. There is a hanger to support the bag and even that is a fail. There needs to be a shoulder strap to support it. One can’t be seriously be expected to fun this machine for hours. Just easier to rake and bag. So what if you use a few extra bags. You’ll be thankful you did. You will come inside covered in dust and you neighbors with be thinking of The Peanuts as to the dust cloud you’ll be working in. The zipper to empty this bag is as painful as the unit itself. I have to wonder if someone seriously tested this unit before manufacturing thousands of them. I had way higher expectations from Ryobi Sorry for the bad review, just can’t think of anything positive to say about it.

I looked towards the Brand I've come to trust with just about all of our household powered utensils; RYOBI! I didn't have to look far... and quickly found an exceptional value for the LEAF Vac and... a battery and charger... which is worth it's weight in gold! Highly recommended... 10 on a scale of 5... Get one, and you'll love it... it's just that great!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Misleading I bought this tool thinking it came with everything and now only to open it 2 months later and see the notice on the box "TOOL ONLY" - this is very misleading to the consumer and should be in bold red not grey!! Now upon looking online - I am left with either buying an additional Ryobi tool that comes with the battery and charger or the items themselves and they collectively cost more than the original equipment itself!!! Not a happy camper and quite disappointed in the misleading information.

How do you get the collection bag off the vacuum so you can empty it? I had to cut the plastic tie provided and now need to replace the 20" tie with a re-usable one.

There should be a flap which covers the zipper area that is secured with a hook-and-loop fastener. Undo this and remove battery pack. Hi Jack, Thanks for the question! Just to clarify, this model is not a blower/vac tool, it's a dedicated vac mulcher, so we don't have a CFM rating. But here are a few specs of that may help: -Mulching Ratio: 16:1, -Variable Speed with 3 Settings, -(8) 30 Gallon Bags of Leaves Per Charge(Fully charged 4Ah battery), -Weight: 12.65 lbs (with 4Ah Battery).
