Rated 5 out of 5 by from Precise Heat The electronic thermostate is the only way to enjoy reliable constant heat from a baseboard heater. Remembering that electric heat is 100% efficient, you want to gain all that efficiency with constant comfort, something a standard thermostat doesn't do well. This kind of unit monitors the room temperature constantly and maintains the heat without the great temp diffence of the old two pole thermostats. Your digital control offers 1/2 degree settings and heating output reading. Twenty bucks well spent. I have them throughout my house.

It stores the set temperature in memory so that it is not lost in the event of a power failure. It displays the current temperature and allows the set temperature to be changed by using the simple up and down buttons. Simple and foolproof. Can also be changed to degrees F. There is also an indicator to show heating status. It is solid state and completely silent. The only thing that would make it better IMO would be a clearer display with optional backlight.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unit gets REALLY hot Hooked to a tiny 1500W baseboard heater. The temperature is always wrong by 2 degrees celsius (I have a thermometer right beside). The main problem is that the thing itself gets REALLY hot. Once, it overheated and the thing itself went up to 26C. The wall gets super hot. Possibly a problem with amperage, but how could it when the maximum is 4000W? Will change it as soon as possible. Don't buy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed product Accuracy of the Thermostat is bad. It will display 1.9 degree less than the room temperature. If you want 22.5 C, you must ask for 20.5. C. I called Aube and they knew about the problem, there was a change in the algorithm. And there is no way to fix it. I was also expecting having a backlight as my other Aube product and there is none.

Haven't turned the heaters on yet, but wanted them to replace 20 year old dial units. They are very white, not cream at all. Minimum temperature on the unit is 5 degrees Celsius...

What if the power goes out? Does the thermstat have a default temp setting or does it lose its setting?

The thermostat normally displays the actual (ambient) temperature. To view the set-point temperature, briefly press the Up or Down button. The set-point will be displayed for 5 seconds. To change the set-point temperature, press (and hold or pulse) the Up or Down button until the desired value is displayed. This can be done in 0.5 degree increments. Super simple! Hope this helps!!

Can this thermostat be used for a 300W baseboard heater?

I have a small half bath on my main floor and there is only a 300W heater in there. If this thermostat won't work, is there any digital (or programmable) thermostat that will work on this size heater? Thanks.

what are the max and min oprating temp? (i.e if it is unpluged and then pluged in will it survie an -30 deg C temp.

When it is not powered (Storage temperature), the spec say -20C. When powering it up at -30C, it will show an error on its room temperature sensor and will not call for heat. You may need to warm it up to -15C until it can boot up correctly and activate the heat. From -15C up to 0C, il will show LO on the screen. This is normal. I hope this answers your question.
