Rated 5 out of 5 by from Electric to Gas range hints and tips We dediced to upgrade our kitchen, after 25 years, and since we were going to be putting in new floors and kitchen counters, we decided to have gas lines put in and make the switch from an electirc range to a gas range. Well, once it was all said and done, we finally had the appliances delived and connected. But at the time of the renovations, we never thought we would need a 120V outlet behind our stove and so we left the 240V outlet in place. At the time of the range install the gas fitter asked if I had an extension cord to get power to the new range. I asked him why and he said that the range needed a 120V outlet not the 240V. To make a long short, we were left with a bright orange extension cord running over our countertop to behind the stove. We put up with this awful thing for about 6 months, until I discovered this fantastic adapter. Just plug the 120V cord from the new gas range into this adapter and then plug the adapter into the 240V outlet and you are done.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from does the job This thing works as advertised. Two things I would change: put the 110 v plug on the side i.e. 90 degrees to the 220 pins. This would save space behind the new stove. Secondly, put two plugs (and two fuses), one for each of the 110 volt hot posts. As it is, a perfectly useful circuit is orphaned when this is connected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Time Saver This product does exactly what I needed. It saved me a couple of hours cutting drywall, running another electrical line and patching/painting. Would highly recommend it to anyone needing to reduce their voltage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Don't hate the player, hate the game 4 Stars only by default, because it works. By code, every oven/stove plug installed has to be a 50 Amp receptacle. So why this doesn't' this come packaged with the 2500$ gas range you just purchased?? Or at least have them in the appliance section and at a nice palatable price. It was difficult to find stock, difficult to locate in the store and overpriced.

can this item be used to covert a 220v electric dryer outlet to 110v for a gas dryer

Asked by: Anonymous
No. A dryer receptacle uses an L-shaped ground pin. A range receptacle, and this adapter, use round ones.

Can this Adaptor be used to plug in regular appliances like a hot plate or microwave to an outlet for kitchen ranges?

Asked by: MJ35
Yes. It just turns the 220 into 110. You can plug any regular appliance into it.

This is definitely a nice gadget. Any reason you couldn't also plug your Over the Range Microwave into it? As it is, it's really just to keep the clock on the stove going and if there's enough power to handle an oven and multiple burners?

Asked by: Sabc
The adapter has a maximum 1875 wattage. 15amp /125volt.

Is the internal 15 amp fuse self resetting?

Asked by: harlyn
It certainly appears to me that the fuse is not consumer-replaceable. I just bought one of these today and observed that there was no apparent way to replace it. You will however likely never blow the fuse, at least not by way of overcurrent, if you are using it as intended i.e. for a gas-powered range which draws a tiny trickle of current. It would only ever blow if you short it to ground like if your cable gets cut and shorted by a sharp edge on the range while you are shoving it up against the wall or something like that.
