Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won't connect to WPA2 Network Went through the setup as instructed in the half fast instruction booklet. Hub will not connect to my wireless router, I contacted Chamberlain 800 number and spoke with a nice gentlemen who seems more confused than I was. I ended up opening my network (unsecured) to test and sure enough it connected fine, I re-enabled WPA/WPA2 on my Rogers wireless modem and won't connect. I first should add that tech support wasn't able to tell me how to reset the hub so that I could attempt to connect to Bluetooth to allow the wifi connection. Bottom line I will be returning this unit... Safe yourself time and money and wait for a more stable product to be released.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not integrate well into a smart home Got it working quite easily, just follow the prompts. BUT... If you want to integrate with IFTTT, Google Assistant, etc... each integration requires a separate subscription. The subscriptions aren't expensive, but still. Also, you cannot open the garage door from IFTTT or Google Assistant. This was one of the main reasons I purchased. Having Android Auto, I figured I'd be able to ask Google Assistant to open the door rather than fumbling for the remote. I'll be returning this item and I don't think I'll buy another Chamberlain product again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Store stock most likely too old! I bougth one unit in Orangeville in November as a Christmas present, but could not install it. Unit would not activate. All boxes looked very old on the shelves. When I contacted Chamberlain, they were very helpful. We found the manufacture date was in 2013, and they "Server A" (sic) that supported these older models is offline. All the new models support only "Server B" (sic). If you buy one in a store, it may be too old and will not work. I will have to try and get my money back for a device that is now litteraly a brick. I hope to find a new model that works. FYI, a co-worker has an older model, and a few months ago stopped working. Not smart on Chamberlain to stop functionality of older models. CHECK manufacture date and confirm with Chamberlain if it is compatible (sorry I did not ask that question)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great support, bad product Taken me a year to get to this. Bought this 6 months prior to that and had for 4 months. Worked well then it just stopped working. Massive tech support to solve which was great. Lorraine in the US (ask for her if she's still there. Amazing) they were so great. I was past my time to return this product so they sent me a Gateway and 2 wifi controls to replace my existing ones (these are the panels that you have inside) this worked amazingly and has been bullet proof for over a year. In other words, don't get this product, get the gateway, and a new control panel with wifi. Marginally more money but worth it for the time and headache. (Side note, be careful with what router you have. In troubleshooting this, we discovered that Rogers modem is the absolute worst.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only 1 device/time, monthly subscription required I bought this a few days ago and after a quick and easy installation, I tried to add my wife's phone to the device so we could both use it. Nope, only usable on one device at a time. Not useful if I can't add more than one person at a time. Also it's advertised as Google assistant compatible, they don't advertise that you need to pay them a monthly subscription for that functionality. Returned yesterday, Home Depot doesn't sell anything else that does the same thing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyer Beware!! Easy installation but after hours of failed attempts to pair the device with Bluetooth did I discover online that the controller is incompatible with my Roger's Router! (Hitron CGN3). The Chamberlain "Tech Support" was the worst I've ever encountered. The operators knew very little about the products and initially couldn't even identify my Canadian model Chamberlain Garage Door opener. We finally arrived at the conclusion that my opener had no capacity for remote, smartphone control; my initial reason for buying the unit!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Potential, but not there yet. So I went to my local Home Depot to pick up one of these units. I'm so excited thinking that I'll be able to remote-control my garage door from my phone. I followed the directions, even though the directions were no good and we're not accurate. I called tech support for some help I waited 15 minutes before I got to speak to someone - they were no help. Being a technical person I was able to figure it out, sort of.... The only functionality that I could get out of it was getting the door sensor to monitor and yell me if my garage door was open or closed. Finally I was able to get the unit to open my garage door but unfortunately it would not close my garage door. Whether it's a defect in the unit or the fact that it's not compatible with my LiftMaster Pro, not sure. My garage door opener is made by Chamberlain which is the same company that makes this unit so I'm not sure why there would be a compatibility issue. Anyway I would not recommend buying this unit yet I would wait for another two or three versions to come out or maybe a firmware upgrade it's not very user-friendly either instructions are horrible . Manual doesn't tell you much and set up is easy if you are technically inclined.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Peace Of Mind This unit performs flawlesly .... there is a you tube video on how to install it.... I threw out the instructions and watched the vid. NO ISSUES whatsoever.... up and running in 10 minutes and installed on three different smart phones in another 5 minutes. I think the only thing that could lead to poor perfromance would be a weak wifi signal in the garage.... I get full bars on my phone when I'm in my garage with wifi. I can't see how anyone would be disappointed in this system.....

I have a Liftmaster 8165 will this work or is it better to up grade the opener with a Wireless?

Asked by: Wireman1966
The system is essentially a door opener remote (like you have in your car) that stays in the garage and you trigger with your phone. As long as your opener has a “learn” button on it, you should be good to go.

Asked by: Mike
It should work with the sensors that came with the opener.  "It works on brands that are manufactured after 1993 and use safety reversing sensors (photoelectric sensors) " https://support.chamberlaingroup.com/s/article/List-of-compatible-garage-door-openers-for-MyQ-Garage-1484145635905
