Rated 2 out of 5 by from The product weed b gone It not as good as before it doesn’t kill the weeds like it use too

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works for the right lawn There is another reviewer who uses the same mix as I do -- 30 ml to 621 ml (1 oz to 20 oz) for the initial spray and follow up with a second spray of 42 ml to 1 L ( 1 oz to 24 oz). There are several factors involved for success. Your lawn must be at least 80% grass (not mainly covered in weeds as this will not wipe out weeds that have taken over your lawn). This formula works best for dandelions. You may require more bottles of concentrate depending on the size of your lot; it's not a cheap fix. Follow these steps anytime the temp remains above 10 degrees C / 50 degrees F: Cut grass before 10 am or after 6 pm. Do not water grass (or rain) for 24 hrs from the time you cut it. After the 24 hrs has elapsed, apply Weed B Gon with garden hose attachment at a rate of 48 ml per 1 L (using Scotts dial a spray which converts to 1 oz per 21 oz). Be generous in your application. Within 12 hours you should see weeds wilt. Do not water (or rain) for at least 24 hrs after application. Spot treat any pop up weeds over the next 2 days with the hand held sprayer and don't be afraid to saturate the entire weed. Depending on how weeds are growing, you made need a second application 4 days after the first (follow all original steps). I have done this for several years now and it gets easier each year since the weeds reduce in numbers. Tackling the weeds as they sprout is the best maintenance. If you wait too long, and your lawn is over come with large weeds, you may need to re-sod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well for us It works very well for us. It kills most of the broadleaf weeds without killing the grass. It's important to follow the instructions when applying the product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't recommend, don't bother I know from experience that Scott's make good products, but this isn't one. The reality is that effective herbicides are banned in Ontario, and this isn't a worthwhile substitute. I applied as directed, to very little effect. I tried again on a more concentrated dial setting about a week later, still no good. Some weeds looked a little sickly, with red veins and some partially-wilted leaves, but didn't die. Sorry, Scott's, I know you're trying your best within the regulations, but I can't recommend this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unhappy with results I decided to review this product after my 2nd year it. Even after following instructions exactly as indicated on the label, weeds came back. Somewhat disappointed as product is expensive. Will be going back to "Golf" product. As you can see my lawn is quite healthy other than the weeds that came back. At least the brown spot makes it easy to find the new growth.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Save your time and money I bought this product and used it exactly as directed. My weed that I was trying to remove was a boom of clover that showed up all over my 10000sqft lawn this spring. The next day there was some leaves that turned black and curled. Over the next few days not much changed and then by the one week mark the clover took off and grew out of control. Don’t waste your money, this doesn’t work and maybe made it worse.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t buy it This is just not what you want to spend your money on. I got 3 of them and 1 of the sprayer , total cost 150.00+ should have just picked the weeds out myself, yup followed all the directions . Terrible product,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work and a container falls apart easily I used this concentrate with the Scott's red spray applicator that is designed to go with this product. The actual bottle looks different than the one shown. I had about 10 different kinds of weeds, and this product did absolutely nothing. Usually the broad leaf weeds at least shrivel up and turn blackish, but that didn't happen. Another weed that has fine leaves like parsley usually becomes limp, and that didn't happen. I have violets growing in the lawn, no effect on them. I sprayed some on a garden perennial that is getting overgrown, nothing happened. It didn't rain that day, but it rained about 36 hours after the application. The only evidence that I even used this stuff is a big dead brown patch on my grass from when the container came apart and the liquid sprayed on my clothes and spilled on the grass. There are not enough threads in the combo of the applicator and the bottle, and I could tell it was not 100% secure before I started. If you continue to twist onto the bottle, it pops past the end of the threads and starts again. I gave it a few good shakes before I started and it didn't come loose. But, halfway through the application, I shook the bottle to see how full it was, and it fell apart. I had some choice words. At least my clothes didn't stain permanently. I've used several products in the past that you attach directly to the hose and had no problems. It seems that the concentrate is the way things are going, but I'm wary about trying this one again. Waste of time and money.

I got two scenarios I would like to ask: 1. How long after application can I overseed the lawn? and 2. How long aftering seed germination can I apply the weed control (independent of 1)?

Asked by: William
William, the active ingredient (chelated iron) does not interfere with grass seed germination. However, we recommend to wait until weeds are dead before reseeding. Once weeds are dead the area can be prepared for seeding. Do not apply to newly seeded areas until 4 or more weeks after grass seedlings have emerged. This is typically after the new grass has been mowed 2-3 times.

How early in the season may this be applied in Southern Ontario? The lawn is in dreadful condition, more weeds and thistles than actual grass. I cannot afford to strip it and re-sod. I realize it will take multiple applications and then top dressing.

Asked by: MBlackman
The best time to apply the Scotts EcoSense Weed B Gon is when weeds are actively growing and temperatures are between 20 C -30 C. Bare areas can be replanted once the weeds have died.
