Rated 2 out of 5 by from this solder is not ok by its self This is supposed to be rosin core. But it doesn't flow unlesss you use flux. With flux ( like oatley from the plumbing section) the solder gets pulled right into the joint, so I think the manufacturer didn't put enough flux in the core. If you want to use this solder, buy flux

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible!! Tried two different tips on my soldering iron -- this stuff melts well enough, but doesn't spread out or flow or flatten or anything! Had to try to spread it around with the tip, and it would just cling to the tip and pull back it is -- just {Home Depot censored what I actually wrote... let's just call it WAY less-than-optimal!} stuff!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete Garbage! If possible I would give this zero stars. Tried using this to solder some electrical connectors onto copper wire. Solder would melt and then bead up instead of flowing. Just out of curiosity I tried some acid core solder and it worked perfectly. Confirmed what I already suspected. This solder was the problem. Perhaps Bernzomatic forgot to add the rosin flux but in any case, don't waste your money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lead-free rosin solder This product has little or no rosin in it. Tested on copper 12 wire before using it on my application. The solder did not flow before the insulation melted, I had to flux the wires on the next test before the solder flowed in the splice.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Utter Junk This solder is terrible, much like other reviewers have stated, this product has little to no rosin at it's core, trying to solder automotive grade wiring (wiring harness) proved to be quite difficult to do with this product. Wire insulation was melting before solder would flow properly, it just wouldn't stay on the wire. It would be a great product for metal-smith's and those who do work with silver & Jewelry I will not buy this again.

Diameter is suitable for handyman doing small tubing repairs and simple electrical connections. 'Recently used this to affix light gauge wires in a school science project - most joints were made with the wetted tip. Exercising good cleanliness (bright soldering tip) lead to strong joints and no resinous connections. Flowed smoothly (with proper fluxing) to pre-tin stranded wire.

Can this be used on circuit boards?
Asked by: halfdayhandyman
Yes. With the proper sized iron. However, you may find finer solder wire more conducive to completing many joints.

Is lead free ok to mount capacitor onto tv board?

Asked by: PBQueen412
A good lead free Solder will work - particularly if it is an easy to work with rosin core one. Unfortunately, this product is JUNK. It is a terrible rosin mix that makes detailed work on circuit boards almost impossible. Go elsewhere and buy a good lead free rosin core (or lead containing rosin core) - and it will be fine. DON'T waste your time with this terrible product. Only good for tinning wires - and even then... not very good.

What is this actually. Can anybody find a datasheet? All they say is "silver copper tin". At what ratios? I can't find out

Asked by: Djydjshf
Hi, Thank you for your question, The vendor have confirmed that SDS sheets can be downloaded through their parent company's "resources" support page. To visit their latest SDS sheets. Please visit : www.lincolnelectric.com for more info. Also, they confirmed that this product has a ratio of ~95% tin, ~4% copper, and ~1% silver.

The packaging states that the product contains/ produces a chemical known to cause cancer and birth defects. Is this the case only when heating the solder? I made a piece of jewellery using it and don't understand if it is safe to wear the solder on my skin or not.

Do you need to use flux when you use this lead-free rosin core solder?

Asked by: Gwen
The best answer to your question is; I am not sure; my use is limited to soldering electric wire connection to insure they do not come apart or have a short. For these joints; I do not use any flux. In other applications; flux may be needed.
