Rated 5 out of 5 by from love this meter well built meter, could not be easier to use, bought one for my son and son-in-law because the meter is pretty fool proof (not electricians) and they would only need the two functions (volts and ohms)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Was looking at the Fluke t5 before this for a rough industrial diagnostic tool. I have used a friend's T5 previously. Things I prefer over the T5: universal replaceable leads, waterproof rated, backlighted, ease of use, price, as in less than half ! I own 4 Fluke meters, this fits in as the every day carry at work where I don't want to sweat loosing or helpers destroying a $200.+ meter. Fits in small Husky bag perfectly. Got the meter for 26. and change. Can't beat it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I'm not an electrician, and I've shorted out or burned up a couple of multimeters in the past, When I needed to check on a couple of electrical issues this unit seemed to have the right mix of capabilities and price. It was very helpful in finding a problem in a low voltage system. I haven't tried it yet with 110 or 220V, but it seems to be both foolproof and bulletproof. I don't know whether it meets the needs of a pro, but it's what I need. I'm glad I chose this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An absolutely great product I wish I could give this thing 10 stars! I was installing a whole house fan and running into every electrical problem imaginable. I had multiple shorts and a defective switch, none of which I would have been able to track down without this great little multimeter. As others have mentioned, this meter is built like a tank. I have no doubt it could survive a 10 ft drop onto concrete. Even the engineering on the battery cover is top notch, it has screws that are deep but will not drop out of the door. The feature that allows you to lock the reading is invaluable when you are working in awkward places. It also has a feature that will tell you if you have a short between two of the lines. All this for $30. By the way it also can be used to test batteries, I just found 4 AAA batteries, I had no idea if they were new or used, I connect the Klien multimeter, 1.5 volts BAM! I've got 4 useable batteries.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good So far, it seems to function just fine and the controls are fairly intuitive. In other words, you should not need to keep the instructions with you. I have seen complaints about removal of the battery door and it can be difficult. The designers failed to leave relief notches to insert a thumbnail or screwdriver. The screws won't come all the way out of the cover so, if you can get them to rise up enough, you can use them a bit like door pulls. Just loosen them and turn over and shake a bit. It takes the meter longer than I would like for it to auto-range and settle on a value. Think 2-3 seconds. Not a big deal, but the minus sign for a negative voltage gets lost in the two text legends below it. The instructions for ohms & continuity are a bit wrong. The first time you press that button you get ohms mode. Thereafter, pressing that button toggles between ohms and continuity. The bright red continuity indicator is nice to have along with the beep/tone. The ohms range is only zero to 4000 but that should be fine for most household uses. There does not appear to be any way to zero the ohms though and mine reads about half an ohm with shorted probe tips. Just check it first if you care that much. Like all other meters, the designers provide no solution for neatly storing the leads although it does have nice tight holders for the probe ends but that leaves the rest of the leads dangling. I put a velcro band around the coiled leads to keep things more compact.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged IP67 I purchased 2 of these to have one in each truck I own. I also purchased two sets of the alligator clips with leeds at 15 bucks each. HP had a pouch made by Husky that fit the meter and both sets of leeds at about 7 bucks each. For a little over 50 bucks each I got two set-ups. Barely over a 100 bucks got me two very nice set-ups. I use mine for checking car batteries mostly and alternators to see if they are putting out proper voltage. This doesn't have all the bells & whistles like some meters but it does the basics that I need a meter for. I love the easy to find bright orange color and the ruggedness of this meter. I also like the light up display for dark areas like on the side of the road at dark checking a battery etc. It's accurate enough, and can be dropped 10 feet to concrete or dunked under water and keep on going. At 30 bucks, I believe this basic meter is worth every penny. You can't go wrong with this one at this price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal for an RV I bought this to handle measurement tasks in my fifth wheel. It has three buttons but two is what I use mainly. One measures AC and DC volts and automatically senses which to measure and the other measures resistance and continuity. The design is very simple (especially for someone as mechanically clueless as I am) and usage is just as easy. To measure my battery, I hit the volt button (which automatically turns on the unit), plug in the probes, and match the red probe to the red battery terminal and black probe to the black battery terminal. When I'm done, hold the volt button down for about two seconds and the unit turns off. I tried another brand; returned it within 24 hours and bought this one. This unit feels like it is well built. Most of the other brands/models were built in China. This one is built in South Korea. For $30, I found it to be a great value for what I need it for.
