Our neighbors got great video of us throwing hockey pucks on to roof, having them roll down the roof and get lost in 2 feet of snow - which was followed by us digging through the snow to find the hockey pucks. A lot of laughs later, snowcovered, we decided they needed to be put into panty hose before tossing! We will probably find the other hockey pucks when the snow melts!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Misunderstood product, but still not great This is supposed to create small drain channels, not melt all snow. Many pucks were broken/dust, and the round shape makes them prefer to roll back off the roof after throwing them. You'd be better off packing ice melt in a snowball and throwing that

Rubber roof

Safe fir use on rubber roof?
Asked by: Menz
This product uses Calcium Chloride to de-ice, which is similar to pet/plant and vegetation friendly sidewalk salt. So I would assume this is safe for rubber roofs. I would check the product packaging for more details.

Will this work differently on a tile roof?

We have a 100 year old house, and it’s the original tile. Also the ice dam has oh so conveniently wrapped around our electric wire (the one that goes from the utility pole to our house).

is this ok to use on metal roofs with ice dams

Asked by: rj
I would be a little hesitant using it on a metal roof, mostly if it is a painted metal from the factory. You could ask the manufacturer where you bought it, or where the contractor did. I have a new metal roof on my front porch and I would not use it. Please read my review.
