Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Smoker I've had this a couple weeks now. I've found that it is very difficult to do things at low temperatures with this. The lowest temperature possible seems to be about 220F with the dampers fully open and the gas on the lowest setting. I'm hoping that once the outdoor temperature drops it will be easier to control the temp (it was about 22C when I used it). Even with the elevated temperatures and the dampers open, I was still able to smoke trout and it turned out amazing. For the price, I think this is a pretty good machine. I don't imagine it will last more than a few years as the metal is fairly thin, however it will get me smoking!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent smoker, great price Purchased this smoker a few weeks back. Setup was pretty simple. I followed the manufacturer's recommended procedures for seasoning the smoker before using it the first time. I cooked 2 racks of ribs this past weekend. I found the temperature hovered around 350 degrees (Dial @ medium). Temperature gauge seems to be reading way hotter than what my Oven gauge was reading. I was able to maintain around 225 - 275 using that gauge. I found I had to add water several times during the cooking process (ran dry). With no water in the pan, the temps went quite high, but dropped as soon as I added water again. Here's how I cooked my ribs (if it helps anyone else): I used my favourite rub, applied generously on ribs (remember to remove membrane). Let the ribs rest for 2 hours at room temperature. Heat the smoker to 225 degrees. Fill smoke pan with chips and water pan with water. Place ribs on upper-most rack. Leave them for 1 hour. Just remember to check your water levels, and add wood chips (if you prefer). At the 1 hour mark, go and remove the ribs (leave smoker on) and place ribs in heavy tinfoil, meat side up. Loosely fold tinfoil closed, create a tent like structure. Place ribs back in the smoker (top rack) at same temperature. Cook for 1 hour. You can chose to spritz the ribs with apple-cider, etc. (I did not). At the 1 hour mark, go and remove ribs from tinfoil and, again, place ribs on top rack (meat up). Mop with your favourite BBQ sauce. Cook for 20 minutes (let sauce caramelise.) Remove. Let ribs rest for 10 minutes and serve! **Note: While my ribs did come out tender, they were NOT fall of the bone. They were more like a simple tug the meat away from the bone when I bit into them. They were not tough. If you leave the ribs in the tinfoil for longer (add 1 hour to cook time) they should come out falling off the bone. If that is what you prefer. This was my first round at cooking and I was not disappointed (nor was my family!!) Pros: Price point. Uses very little propane, even at high temperature. Cons: Light metal. Seems hard to maintain LOW temperature setting (225 degrees) Overall I am very, very happy with this smoker. I recommend it to anyone who is just starting out and maybe doesn't want to spend a small fortune on a propane smoker.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes Smoke! This smoker definitely makes smoke. I've had a chance to use it a couple of times now, both times with great results. My Smoker in particular must have had a rough ride during shipping. There was no damage to the working parts however I did discover a few dents when I unpacked the unit. There was no visible marks or cuts on the box itself so I really didn't expect to see any damage. One dent in the center of the front door at the closure handle, and another dent which actually effected the angle and level of one of the legs. Aside from a couple of dents this smoker is easy to use and is fool proof if you follow the cooking instructions and cooking time and temperatures which are included in the owners manual.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bought as a gift I bought a friend a smoker for her wedding. It arrived within two weeks. When she tried to use it, there were holes and the knob is missing. Now I have to return it and it isn't an easy process. Why couldn't it just arrive in one piece?
