Rated 4 out of 5 by from Only coupling that fits on 1/2 inch Blu-Lock Pipes When I dug up a bush in my garden I accidentally cut one of the irrigation hoses. The first step in repairing this cut was to measure the diameter of the hose to determine what size it was ie: 1/2 inch. So off I went to my local hardware who stock Rain Bird and I bought their 1/2 inch coupling. When I got home the coupling wouldn't fit no matter what tried for example immersing the hose in hot water to help it stretch. So I went to another hardware store who stocked Toro and bought their1/2 inch coupling. It also didn't fit. Eventually I determined that the blue piping or hosing for the sprinkler system that was installed when I bought my house was 1/2 inch Blu-Lock Pipe. And from the internet I found out that Blu-Lock 1/2 inch pipes and fittings have a slightly smaller size diameter than the 1/2 inch pipes and fittings manufactured by their competitors. So unless I wanted to rip up all the irrigation hoses in my lawn I had to find Blu-Lock attachments which I eventually did at Home Depot (in a neighboring town). I am happy enough with these fittings. But I am not very happy that they are not a universal size and interchangeable with other brands. What might have taken a couple of hours to repair took days and a lot of frustration
