Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Batteries Don't Last Even though this is discontinued, it can't be said enough times that Ridgid lithium batteries DON'T LAST. The replacement batteries cost as much or more than the drill. The warranty registration process to get the Lifetime Guarantee thing started is WAY too much of a hassle, so that doesn't offset the issue at all. I won't be wasting any more money on the Ridgid brand tools. I would strongly recommend against purchasing any Ridgid product that uses lithium batteries unless you plan to throw it away in a year or so. I would expect that kind of lifespan from a $40-$50 cordless drill, but when the price tag is double, the quality and durability expectations should be much higher than this product delivers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Lithium-ion Drill battery dies and warranty worthless Occasional user, very light duty use. The battery was charged before use and quit powering the drill even when under no load. The warranty department could not find my product registration even though sent in promptly with receipt and upc label and after hours of phone calls they indicated I could write a letter requesting an exception to policy to get a new battery. That has been weeks with no communication and no way to contact them to find out if I could or could not get a replacement. The Warranty does not seem to be useful and the drill without power is of course useless. WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER RIGID PRODUCT based on this experience. Junk!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ridgid / Ryobi Ridgid / Ryobi Drill Review June 14, 2013 I have always thought of Ridgid Tools as among the best. Top of the line, high quality. When looking for a cordless drill I chose this one even though some of the reviews were poor. Can’t go wrong with Ridgid. Ryobi reviews are good but I’ll stick with Ridgid. Ordered on line in early March first one came with a defective battery right out of the box. I sent it back and received replacement in a week or so. Seems OK… I used it once and put it away. Checked it in a week or so and the battery was still charged so I thought good show. I proceeded with the registration for a LSA Lifetime Service Agreement. Very convoluted and time consuming, but I did it. They said 10-12 weeks for acknowledgement. WHAT ! 2 ½ months to register a product. May 1, 2013 I went to use my drill. Battery was not only completely dead but also showed defective on the charger indicator. May 2, 2013 I returned the drill for a full credit and ordered a Ryobi at the same price. Home Depot are good people and took the drill back with out a problem but I not at all happy with my experience with the Ridgid Drill. So far, I’m pleased with my purchase of Ryobi… drill feels and looks nice and the batteries are holding their charge.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs a magnet to hold screws The battery warranty is great but I find myself reaching for my other drill most times because it has a magnet plate. I don't find this one any more or less reliable than my cheaper Ryobi either. I suppose it's fine, but it wouldn't be my first choice. I will probably hang onto it though, since it is sometimes convenient to have two cordless screwdrivers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Battery died with very light use in about 1 year I have used dozen of cordless drills since my first 12v Dewalt in around 1996. With a few friends in the industry swear by a couple Rigid products and I thought to try this kit. The torque and feel of this unit are great, its sits nicely in my hand. The battery pops in and out with ease. I can not give it more than two stars with the battery becoming faulty so quickly. I of course didn't fill the warranty in time and now have a useless drill. Not worth buying a new battery for almost the same cost as both drill and battery in the kit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Battery Powered Tools and Kits The registration process is sneaky. Until Ridgid I never had a warranty that required you to register your product within a short period of time. Makes no sense to have your tool "out of warranty" because you didn't register the tool with a couple weeks. With a receipt as proof of purchase I never had a problem with warranties. Ridgid, however, will not warrant your tool if you do not go through the process of registration on their time schedule. Another thing I learned the hard way was Ridgid will not warrant the purchase of batteries that do not come in a kit??? Makes no sense. You get a kit with several tools and 2 batteries, but if you buy a couple extra batteries they will not have a life-time warranty. My local repair shop went out of business because the parts he paid for to repair Ridgid tools were 6 months or more late. His only other criticism was the plastic gear parts in Ridgid tools. He must have had a dozen or more drills dusty on a big shelf.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from no warranty service If you live in Newfoundland do not buy ridgid products! There is no service centre in newfoundland if you require service or battery replacement under the Life Time Service Agreement. Home Depot, Kelsey Drive, St. John's will give you a 1-877 ..... # to call. You have to leave a message but no one calls back ( several messages). Ridgid.com is no help. Better off to buy another brand from a reputable tool dealer and make sure you can get warranty service locally.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 18 Volt Ridgid drill with Lithium Ion batteries I purchased this drill for light duty operation and to take with me on trips when I visit customer sites. The drill is very nice and the hand activated chuck works great. The clutch also has proven to be well made and actuates reliably. Unfortunately, the lithium ion batteries / charger do not work and failed to work efficiently even when new. After about six uses (ten minute average), both batteries failed to charge properly, one did this out of the box, new. The charger shows a full charge but in reality, the battery is still near empty. I believe it is a design flaw in the charger more than the battery but I am not sure which is to blame. I have registered for warranty coverage but you have to take these to an authorized service center which is a big pain. Would be a great drill if it drilled when you needed it to. Going on a long trip and counting on your tools to work when you get there is important. When they don't, the value goes negative, hence two stars. Recommend an alternate to this manufacturer until issues are resolved and reading the reviews, they have not fixed the issue yet. AVOID Ridgid battery powered tools.
