Rated 4 out of 5 by from These are fire safes If you are looking for something to protect your valuables from a fire, these safes are hard to beat for the price. If you are looking for a good security safe they start at about a grand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sentry doesn't cut it Don't bother with this safe. Unreliable lock mechanism. Took an hour to get my stuff out with a pry bar and a hammer. Mishap happened after warranty. Nice moneymaker for SentrySafe. Don't make a mistake with this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Overall Fire-Resistant Safe with Advanced Lock I purchased this safe mainly to put important documents into like Wills, Power of Attorneys, Birth and Marriage Certificates, Passports, and Investment information. I chose the 2 cu ft model because I had some files that needed more room (this model comes with a hanging file holder that can be removed). It was a perfect size to fit into a closet and still have room to hang items above it. The only bad experience I had with it were the instructions. They tried to combine several types of safe locks into one instruction manual without separating the text for the different types very well. In addition, it was outdated and some of the instructions were in the wrong order. I sent them an e-mail to detail the problems with the instructions and they did respond and said that they will work to improve their instructions. I purchased a safe with the Advanced Lock because I wanted the freedom to give a unique lock combination to my sons in case they needed to get into it for an emergency. In this way, I do not have to reveal my master combination to anyone. Plus, I can remove this "guest" combination whenever I want. The safe is fire-resistant, not water-proof. I was not planning on putting my safe in the basement where it could be exposed to potential flooding, therefore, I did not need to spend the extra money on the water-proof capability. My advice is to not get a water-proof one unless the safe will be subject to potential flooding. Since it is not water-proof, it is easier to close and lock the safe than a water-proof one, because you don't have to compress the water seal when the door is closed. The door must be fully closed in order to turn the handle to lock it. With a water-resistant safe, it takes more force to reach the point where the door deadbolts will align with the holes in the safe to allow the handle to turn. I comes with two dessicant packs that must be kept in the safe. They recommend that every two weeks, you open the safe for several hours to dry it out since the insulation they use will raise the moisture content in the safe which could cause mold. The only way to get around this is to buy an extremely expensive safe that uses a much more expensive insulation material. The best way to deal with the moisture concern is to buy a second 2-pack of dessicant material from Sentry Safe for $5.00. In this way, two of the packs can be sitting on a window sill drying out while the other two are in the safe. When the two weeks are up, then switch the dessicant packs. My advice before buying any safe is to determine in advance how many things you plan on putting into it and to really think about it. After I bought mine, I am glad I bought the size I did because I have used quite a bit of the available space. I would recommend this safe to anyone who is looking for a fire-resistant safe. Once the instructions were clarified, it has been very easy to use. You just have to remember to open it a couple of times a month to let it air out

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst safe on the market. Opens with a hammer and screwdriver I had one of these and i really wish i researched it before buying. The safe wouldn't open at one point. The company told me to hit it certain way with a hammer on its side, to rattle the locking pin and it would open. This did not work. I went online and found 10's of 1,000's of people with same problem. I had to call a safe opener, to come to my house and he opened it by simply knocking out the outer hinge and pins from the front of the safe with a hammer and a screwdriver. its not filled with any plating, you can drill through ANY part of the safe because its jacket is filled with.... filler. Bit of sheet-rock type material. Yes its sturdy but its not safe. Even after calling the company and telling them that it failed, they wanted me to pay for a new one and i had to already foot the bill for the "safe guy" This is by far the worst thing i purchased for both our home and office. When this happened at home. I sold the one from my house. If you can pick up the safe as one person, its not worth it. Do yourself a favor and buy and old school safe that's heavy from say a closed bank.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bang for the Buck value! I'm using this in a restaurant. The interior is not that big. It will not hold a full size cash register drawer. I would have to transfer the money into a money bag and leave the drawer out. No big deal. You do need to bolt it to the ground as it is really light for a safe. It is built well but not as strong as you think. I only paid about $500 for this, so, for the price, it's good. When you first recieve the safe, the instruction booklet says in step 1, to unscrew the screw that is located at the bottom of the number pad. There is a hole, but no screw to unscrew. It took me 3 hrs trying to figure that out, as I was using all kinds of screw heads- philips, hex, allen, flat, etc. trying to unscrew it. Finally, I just skipped step 1 and went on to step 3. Insert batteries into the number pad. Viola! Punch in the factory pre-set code, pull the handle down and pull real hard at the door and it opened. So, instructions were of no use. Overall, good item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used daily and no problems After being robbed, this safe has been a lifesaver! I got it on sale so it cost less than smaller safes of the same kind. Was shipped quickly and was very easy to set up. Amongst other things, I keep all my jewelry in it. Everymorning I get in it to pick out what I'm going to wear, each evening I put my jewelry away. I have had none of the issues others have claimed. I'm so glad I purchased this
