Went through the setup process on a new ipad pro, iphone xr and smasung s10 and all failed to connect. I spent over an hour trying to connect and after seeing the reviews on the app, I understand lots of other people are as frustrated as I am. The software setup needs to be more consumer friendly and work flawlessly the first try. Debating on bringing this back tomorrow afternoon or attempting one more time at connecting the unit before bringing it back if it fails again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Wireless Design I wanted a remote trap for my attic to control mice in a remote location. This gets 1 star for what victor does well, which is the trap 1/2 of the design. The electronic and wireless implementation is very poor. I am an electronics engineer. This is an wireless implementation of the ESP32 wireless chip used in many cheap products like thermostats. I have used these chips in some home products and they work fine, however Victor has managed to mess up the software. If the device disconnects from a dedicated 2.4G network, it will not reconnect automatically. Worst, it will be in high power transmit mode and kill the batteries, then you're done. Sometimes it will transmit and not return to sleep mode, again killing the batteries. I would strongly recommend waiting for a better implementation unless you buy "AA" batteries by the bucket.

I caught 12 mice in my garage over 3 years with the original trap.. It was great but finally died. This trap which was twice the cost of the original is not good. I have caught zero mice so far and the wireless connection is constantly dropped. I keep resetting it and it keeps failing. My experience so far is very poor with this trap. I will go back to the original non-wireless unit which is half the cost.

Then it gave me 4 kills that none was there, there was evidence of the rodent going in and out of the trap, By that time it was too late to return the other two. I have four sitting ready to go to garbage now, yes that are still in the original wrapping.

Bought two more I liked the notifications so much saves me time checking all time. No mice, plus now Ill know if any get in the house right away with the notifications. Manufacturer admits that there is a known issue where traps can't be connected to WiFi and that there is no ETA for a fix (as per Play Store reviews) - the setup wheel just spins after connecting to the trap's initial hotspot. Therefore these traps are no better than the non-smart models which are half the price. It's a shame since I really wanted these to save me the hassle of climbing up into the attic just to check on traps. Back to the drawing board...

I was also worried with kids outside getting their fingers caught. Bought this trap this afternoon and by this evening I had ready caught 3 voles! The fact that it sends notifications to your phone you dont have to go check the trap all the time just set and forget! Cant wait to see how many I can get tomorrow.

However, the description says indoor/outdoor and because of this I was comfortable leaving it out in the rain, and well after that it was no longer able to be used as it would immediately engage the circuit as soon as it was powered on. 5/5 for actual use, 1/5 because it’s not really outdoor, so there’s my 3/5.

Will this trap kill voles outside?

I would like to put one of these in a sheltered location outside where it is completely protected from rain but not the cold. Will the trap and WiFi still work without having to constantly change the batteries?
