Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Product Overall a good product. Not as well built as the one I had for 20 years. Both appear to be exactly the same based on appearance. Noticed internal parts were plastic on the new one. Only time will tell if it lasts as long.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from “Franken-midifier” monster I bought this humidifier to replace my existing Wait 5000 unit which had stopped working after many years of use. I thought it would make the install easier since they’re the same make and model. Not so. 1. First thing I ran into was the opening in the duct is larger now (9 inches vs 8 inches). This was a problem since my duct is only 9 inches wide. Luckily I was able to use my old base and mount the new components on to it. 2. Second problem I ran into was the cheap plastic solenoid provided was defective. It would not open when energized. So I removed the old brass solenoid off the old humidifier and used it on the new humidifier. 3. Third problem I ran into was no water flow. Checked all water lines and connections, and found one of the small brass tube inserts for the water line leading into the solenoid was not a tube at all. It was a brass stopper preventing all flow of water. This was straight from the factory. I replaced the stopper with spare brass tube I had on hand and now water was flowing. 4. The fourth problem was now the flow of water through unit was too high and overflowed the drain at the bottom of the unit. I had to install a small shutoff valve in the water supply line to throttle the flow of water to the humidifier. If it wasn’t for the COVID-19 lockdown, I would have returned this unit to the store as soon as I discovered the first flaw. This is not a good product out of the box. I would not recommend this humidifier to anyone unless you have a lot of time on your hands to troubleshoot and a bit of ingenuity to reinvent it into a “Franken-midifier”. It’s not pretty but it works now.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute garbage I am thoroughly disappointed with this product. Here are my complaints as to why: The provide compression fittings to fit the water supply line to the solenoid. The threads and body of the solenoid are plastic. The plastic just strips out as you tighten the compression fittings. I had to spend another $30 on proper water fittings to get this install to work. The drain hose came pinched in multiple places so it wouldn’t drain. Had to go buy another drain hose. The humidisense system doesn’t work well. No dip switch combination will make it the system come on properly. I had to hardwire the humidifier to the furnace using the C and W terminals. More money for the wire. Don’t waste your money on this item. Pay a little more and get a better product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lots of defects with this product Problem #1 - Connecting the supply water tubing to the plastic valve. We could not connect the brass nut to the cheap plastic valve without stripping threads. We checked the tubing from the valve (installed at the factory) and found that Figure 14 of the installation guide shows the plastic ferrule backwards. Problem #2 - The green LED lit, but the plastic valve would not open and deliver water to the humidifier pad. Problem #3 - Home Depot relaced the solenoid and valve but with the new one the green LED does not even light to open the water supply valve (after 15 minutes of furnace operation). The red LED indicates the unit has power so that is not the issue. The humidifier is not working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaced older Wait 5000 with this one. I bought this with hesitation (due to reviews) to replace an older Wait 5000 that I have had for a long time. The cut-out is a little bigger and the controls are on the side (exposed) now instead of on the head (covered). The over-all design is a little better compared to the older model 5000. It also operates differently than the previous model. It doesn't automatically kick-in when your furnace starts. It has a sensor that determines if your furnace is heating or cooling (A/C), then it starts after a minute or so if it sensed a change in heat (not cooling). This is explained in the instructions. Not sure if the previous reviewers read this in the install manual. Overall it works better than my last one and I would recommend it to people who read instructions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap.... with reason. Bought this as it closely resembled the humidifier in my previous home and it was on sale. Not sure if it was the same model I owned before. Installed easy enough. Unit is pretty poorly built, cover does not seal very well and is held on by only one plastic screw. Does not flow water when installed as per instructions. Trouble shooting guide directs you to 5 different DIP switch settings. the last requires you to purchase a pressure switch from the manufacturer. Ultimately I got it to work by wiring it into my furnace humidifier control. Furnaces built in this century have this option, the instructions should include this option. Overall I would have rather spent more money for a better built unit. Already cut holes in duct work for this thing so return is not an option.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fixed the problem After calling support on the product the tech guy said to check the upper tube, The brass connector gets clogged up. Mine was sealed shut. I drilled it out with a 3/64 bit and the water flows fine now.

Water running even with the unit off and unplugged

I see that this is an old post but if you have this problem it's the solenoid that is defective. Alot of people who don't check it on a regular basis can waist a lot of water!!! I took mine apart to see if it was just a hard water problem but the brass seat for the stop plunger was chewed up. If you have the ability to install the humidifier you can replace this part. $55.

WATER IS DRIPPING FROM THE DRAIN HOLE AT THE BOTTOM. I HAVE CHANGED THE FILTER AND TRIED ADJUSTING THE FLOW OF WATER BUT DOES NO HELP?

Asked by: Anonymous
The drain on this unit is really finicky. I had the same problem. Make sure there are no (even slight) "uphill" runs or areas where the water has to be "pushed". The drain system has to be completely free and open.

My unit is about 3 years old and the water valve does not always open to allow the flow of water. Can I buy parts for this humidifier? I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada.
