Rated 3 out of 5 by from Expect issues if you have a newer furnace The sensor in the humidifier turns the water on when it senses a temperature change - it has to increase at more than 4 C/minute and be above 30 C. This works fine with an older single stage furnace that preheats and then turns the fan on full at power. With a two stage furnace with a variable speed blower, the temperature increase may be too gradual to turn the unit on. In that case, you will have to call the company to get an additional sensor to work around the problem. So the unit can be made to work, but the manufacturer should either modify the product so it works reliably with the newer furnaces, or acknowledge the issue on the box and in the installation manual.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wait 6000 12 gallon flow through humidifier They don't work!!! Unbelievable!!! Bought 4 units, none of them worked. The first unit indicated 20% humidity which was correct but after setting a target of 45% humidity the water would not flow. The second unit out of the box had a broken LCD display. The third unit indicated 40% humidity which is impossible and after setting a target of 50% the unit triggered the solenoid valve for about 5 seconds and then shut off, again no water flow. The fourth unit indicated 30% humidity and after setting a target of 40% again like the other units, no water flow. The quality of these units look poor, and they don't work. How can a local Ontario company put out such a poor product?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lots of defects with this product Problem #1 - Connecting the supply water tubing to the plastic valve. We could not connect the brass nut to the cheap plastic valve without stripping threads. We checked the tubing from the valve (installed at the factory) and found that Figure 14 of the installation guide shows the plastic ferrule backwards. Problem #2 - The green LED lit, but the plastic valve would not open and deliver water to the humidifier pad. Problem #3 - Home Depot relaced the solenoid and valve but with the new one the green LED does not even light to open the water supply valve (after 15 minutes of furnace operation). The red LED indicates the unit has power so that is not the issue. The humidifier is not working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaced older Wait 5000 with this one. I bought this with hesitation (due to reviews) to replace an older Wait 5000 that I have had for a long time. The cut-out is a little bigger and the controls are on the side (exposed) now instead of on the head (covered). The over-all design is a little better compared to the older model 5000. It also operates differently than the previous model. It doesn't automatically kick-in when your furnace starts. It has a sensor that determines if your furnace is heating or cooling (A/C), then it starts after a minute or so if it sensed a change in heat (not cooling). This is explained in the instructions. Not sure if the previous reviewers read this in the install manual. Overall it works better than my last one and I would recommend it to people who read instructions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap.... with reason. Bought this as it closely resembled the humidifier in my previous home and it was on sale. Not sure if it was the same model I owned before. Installed easy enough. Unit is pretty poorly built, cover does not seal very well and is held on by only one plastic screw. Does not flow water when installed as per instructions. Trouble shooting guide directs you to 5 different DIP switch settings. the last requires you to purchase a pressure switch from the manufacturer. Ultimately I got it to work by wiring it into my furnace humidifier control. Furnaces built in this century have this option, the instructions should include this option. Overall I would have rather spent more money for a better built unit. Already cut holes in duct work for this thing so return is not an option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Humidifier I have used this humidifier in both my homes; it has given me trouble free service for years, with regular maintenance like shutting off the water and checking for leaks, (which there has been none). I have only had to replace the solenoid once. When you buy this humidifier, buy 2 evaporator pads; change every 6 months, clean the dirty one in vinegar in a glass cooking pan, rinse, let dry, put away for next change out. This is an excellent product but could be a less expensive, but a healthy family is worth the extra 50 bucks isn't it? It is a million times better than the tray models that are a PAIN to clean and if you forget to clean them, the bacteria which builds up can make your family sick, quick. My family is healthier because of the Wait 5000 humidifier!! Simple replacement, A1 product, I know humidifiers. P.S. Check and make sure you have a floor drain close by to run the overflow into before you buy a flow through humidifier. I would not buy any other humidifier! No this is not an internal Home Depot Review; I didn't get paid to write this; Real customer here.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from product failed within 10 months and Air King "Wait" refused to do anything with in reason to fix the problem. Stick with the old technology AK850 1/4 the price

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fixed the problem After calling support on the product the tech guy said to check the upper tube, The brass connector gets clogged up. Mine was sealed shut. I drilled it out with a 3/64 bit and the water flows fine now.

WATER IS DRIPPING FROM THE DRAIN HOLE AT THE BOTTOM. I HAVE CHANGED THE FILTER AND TRIED ADJUSTING THE FLOW OF WATER BUT DOES NO HELP?

Asked by: Anonymous
The drain on this unit is really finicky. I had the same problem. Make sure there are no (even slight) "uphill" runs or areas where the water has to be "pushed". The drain system has to be completely free and open.

What is the default setting for the dip switches on a Wait 5000 humidfier?

I have just replaced a humdifiier with a Wait 5000 & have mislaid the manual. The unit is not providing sufficient humidity & while it may have to do humidisense sensor, I would like to verify the switch setting prior to looking at pressure switches or hard wiring. Thanks PS have just change the air filter to ensure good air flow. purchsed at St. Clair store in Toronto

Flow-Thru Humidifier (summer use)

Q: Does the Wait 5000 "OR" any other flow-thru humidifier work well in the summer months? ie. Without the use of furnace (heat) &/OR while central air-conditioning is in use...? Need a fast answer cos I've one month old hardwood floors that need humidity -STAT!
Asked by: P10TR3K
No, the flow-thru humidifiers will not work in the summer months as the unit is heat activated. There is usually enough humidity in the summer months so there usually isn't a need to add humidity. I hope this helps.
