The convenience of not having to fumble with keys when you have little ones in your hands is so helpful. Or if you just have your hands full. Nice to be able to put different codes in so I can give individual codes to family members so they easily remember their own code. Will never be able to go back to key only entry. Definitely recommend.

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money I really liked the idea of keyless entry and a locksmith told me that Weiser was the best brand. It took three different units before I got one that worked properly. The third lock worked great for about a week. Then it rained. The lock got wet and now it won't work. Thankfully I had the key on me or I would have had to pay a locksmith to let us into the house. It's insane that a company would design an exterior lock that can't get wet.

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Our Smartcode lock....... Love the lock,have had no issues with it locking properly. The first time it ran out of batteries we had warning....last time it just went!! That would have been bad if we weren't home at the time!! Have to use brand new batteries when they get replaced. The backlight feature no longer works so coming home at night is a bit tricky as we have no light to see the code we are putting in! Been on the phone with Weiser many times and they can't give me a solution- bit frustrating! Found the receipt and now will see if its covered under warranty. If you get a rude customer service person as I did....call back the are some good people who work there!

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality, barely lasts the warranty I bought this lock a year and a half ago. Like other users have commented, it goes through the batteries. When this unit is working, it works well. This week though, the locking mechanism completely quit working. I changed the batteries again, left the power supply unplugged - nothing worked. At the time I purchased this lock I paid $165. For that amount of money I expected the lock to last years. Buy something else if you don't want to be regularly replacing this unit.

    Rated 3 out of 5 by from Keyless Entry I really like the keyless entry deadbolt for the convenience of not having to use a key to get into the house. Ours works great as long as the batteries are good have had it for a year. The biggest problem we are having is that it goes through way too many batteries, I would say we have gone though close to 40 over the last year and it can stop working at any time so make sure you have your key with you at all times. We do use top brand batteries but they just don't last and they don't recommend rechargeable batteries.

    I have a metal door that is 2" thick will this lock fit most doors are 1.5 inches if this one will not work can you tell me which one will work also I need a door handle as well

    For proper installation you would need a 2 1/8" cross bore, 1" edge bore hole, 2 3/8" or 2 ¾” backset and door thickness of 1 3/8" to 1 3/4". Kwikset manufactures a thick door kit to allow to fit on a door that is up to 2 1/4" thick only. You will need to purchase thick door kit part number 81248. Please contact or visit your local Home Depot special order counter for availability, pricing and shipping.
