Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thermostat fine- poor instructions The wiring diagram that s included in the package is poorly written and misleading. The double pole wiring diagram actually references a 'neutral' wire coming from the source, rather than 2 lines, as is required by this type of circuit. If you search for a double pole thermostat wiring diagram online, it shows the correct terminology that should be used. There is no neutral wire used in 240v heating, unless there is a fan for forced air also in the unit. Also, just an FYI on the other commenter stating that since installing a double pole breaker, their rooms now warm up unlike before. This statement is not true as a result of the thermostat being single or double. More than likely it was either wired incorrectly when using the single pole, or the original thermostat was not functioning properly. Having a double or single pole thermostat does not change the heat output of any unit. Logically, it is more likely that the original wiring included the use of a neutral wire rather than two lines, making the heater completely ineffective at produng heat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dosen't always work I bought this thermostat for my new shed/shop, along with a 2000W dimplex heater. It has worked fine most of the times but got stuck once and the shed went to 27C. 1 year later and it got stuck again once again going to 26C while it is -5C outside. The shed is 12 x 12 and very well insulated. I cycled the thermostat and it still wouldn't turn off the heater. After a little bit of cycling it finally worked again. I took the cover off and cannot find anything physically wrong with it. What can be wrong? Both the heater and thermostat are new 2 years ago.

The only thing I don't like is the difference between the on and off temperature. Two of the stats are about 2-3 degrees between on and off and one of them is 6 difference and the other is 10 degrees differenc

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This was easy to install and the double pole makes a huge difference. I used to have a single pole and I could never get the room warm. With the double the room heats up faster and stays warm. I'm now converting every thermostat to double.

Hi, I installed a Dimplex TD322W thermostat for a wall heater and it has not controlled the heat output at all. It is either on, blasting heat, or it is off (because it is too hot in the room and we turn it off manually). Do I need to buy a new one?

Asked by: amoniker
Yes, you need a new one. The contacts sound like they are sticking together. I had this happen, replaced it and it worked as expected. Note: this thermostat works by turning on when temp of below temp set on dial, so Heater blasts heat till thermostat is satisfied, then turns off. It is a simple crude on/off device. Additionally: if thermostat is mounted on a wall where you can feel lots of cold air traveling into the room through the mounting box, it will impact it's performance, and thermostat will need to be set higher than actual room temp.

What is the maximum ampherage this unit can handle at 240 Volts?

I have 3-4ft older baseboard heaters controlled by one thermostat. Thanks
Asked by: bob
Technically both above answers are correct but here is the best answer: The thermostat is made to hook up to a 20 amp Dipole (240v) supply from the breaker box. National Electric Code (NEC) recommends not exceeding 80% of a circuits Max load. Max Load: 240v x 20 amp = 4,800 Watts 80% Constant Load 4,800 x 80%=3,840 Watts. (I would use this as the max).

i bought a dimplex wall heater, 1500 watts and need a thermastat. what is the difference between a single pole thermastat and a double.

Asked by: Anonymous
Single pole thermostats breaks only one side of the power line to your heater and cannot be turned off. Therefore, power is continuous to the heater even if it is not running. Double pole thermostats breaks both sides of the power line; therefore all power to the heater is interrupted. This acts as a safeguard for people performing electrical work on the heater. I hope this helps.

When I turn the dial higher or lower I can hear a click like it is working but the heater does not come on.

Are there adjustments to be made or is it just easier to just replace it.
