They are beautiful but the gel burning fuel is very expensive and can be purchased on line only. Although I bought the gel burning fireplace, I was still infactuated by the beauty of this fireplace. Well words can not describe the elegance of this piece. My bedroom is in black heavy laquer (Bassett) with white and black decor and netting hanging from the ceiling over the bed. The fireplace was the ultimate piece to my decor. I put it picture frame height so I can aim the remote from my bed. I just love it. Yes, I am single, living alone, and enjoying the good life with a bit of elegance. ""Sexy Senior Citizen!"" (smile)

The room is about 440 sq. ft and very cold in our Manitoba winters so this fireplace is not only absolutely gorgeous, it is very funtional and provides much needed heat as well. From the picture on the website I was a little unsure about the pebbles but they look incredible, especially when you use the light on the inside of the fireplace. Everyone comments about how beautiful it is and wants one for their home!

Then I saw the words ""wall mount"" Bingo ! My dear brother and I recessed it into the wall of my condo, wired it inside the wall, and it looks fabulous ! I enjoy the beauty of it every night after work, and everyone who sees it can't take their eyes off of it. It is so lovely and functional with the ability to heat the great room. Bravo Dimplex.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Attractive space heater The flame motor makes a clicking noise every 3 seconds, which can be annoying. It is a great alternative to heating a small room, since it has a thermostat. I was surprised at how realistic the flames look. If building into the wall do not add any horizontal studs. They will just get in the way. I used four lag bolts with washers instead of the screws they provided. Make sure your fill material inside the glass is level before you install the glass.

We bought it mainly for ambience, as we didn't want to install a real one in our TV room. But the additional heat proved very nice on very cold winter evenings. I have been raving about this product to everyone I meet.We did build it into the wall, and this proved a bit harder. But it worked out.

Very attractive product; friends asked if it was gas. Realistic flame, good heat source in our 250+ sq ft bedroom. Not perfect install instructions but good enough. Excellent value. We have two gas HeatnGlo Sohos in other rooms and this fits very well with them.

The "flame" silhouettes and tin foil reflector that produce the fire effect look pretty cheesy, but perhaps when installed will do the job. We are in the process of building a surround in which to recess the unit; haven't turned it on yet to see how it performs.

When I need heat in the room it does a top notch job of that too. I now am looking to purchase another one, and I would definitely recommend the brand name of Dimplex.

how noisy is the fan/blower? How much does it cost to run? is it ok to hang below a wall mounted TV?

Dimplex fireplaces and stoves operate for pennies a day. The flame uses slightly under 300 Watts of power. With an average electricity rate, the unit operates for a remarkable 3¢ per hour providing all the warmth, ambiance and romance of a fireplace. When you choose to activate the heat feature along with the flame, the unit uses approximately 1500 Watts. The total cost to operate the flame and heater is approximately 8 per hour (gas fireplace manufacturers regularly advertise running costs of 17¢ per hour)! Electricity rates vary. 8 ¢ per hour based on heater cycling at 50%. It is quiet to operate.The heat emanates form the bottom of this unit. Thank you -

What is recess size of Dimplex VCX1525 fireplace?
