Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth checking out for your project We really like the idea of this self-healing, plant-based product. There are some things you should before choosing it for your project, however: 1.) The fine dust is portion of the product (I'm guessing this is the same in the EnviroSand) is extremely light. I had rented a tamper to compress the EnviroStone between our randomly spaced cobblestones, but the powder is so light that the tamper created a 20' high cloud when it ran over the Envirostone. I had to stop the machine and just put it down by hand. If sweeping in, small sweeping motions, only. 2.) It leave a residue all over your pavers that's extremely hard to get off before the first round of water. Ever time I swept the walkway, I inevitably swept out a little of the EnviroStone and spread it over the tops of the stones. I was very concerned about leaving *any* residue on the pavers so eventually I used a leafblower as they recommended on the company's website. This too created a HUGE cloud of dust. If you're trying this approach, make sure the dust won't settle on something (like a car) and become bonded to it. 3.) It turned out getting the material off the top just with water wasn't hard at all and probably didn't need as much prep as I had done. I misted the whole walkway (as per instructions) and let it stand for 10 minutes (not enough time for anything to dry anywhere but enough for initial bonding to take place). I then went back with a slightly stronger spray, horizontally across the tops of the pavers. 3 passes later, I was satisfied the water was running mostly clear when it came off the top of the pavers. When everything dried, our walkway looked great. (see pics with this post) If I think of it, I'll return in a year or two to post whether or not it has lasted (and self-healed) like the product claims. If it does, I'll bump it to 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Envirostone is impressive We tried the Envirostone product for our natural square cut flagstone after our contractor said he was going to use a chemical product instead. We researched online for a natural product and found Envirostone at Home Depot. We put this in over a year ago, and it's still in place. We bought another bag this spring to top it up in some areas where the eavestrough was dripping (to be expected), but otherwise it's perfect! Awesome product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome patio I generally don't take time out of my busy schedule to write a product review (this is only my second or third time ever), but I felt it necessary in this situation. We have a backyard that has needed an improvement for quite some time. Because of this, we went to the Home Show/Canada Blooms show in Toronto in March to get some ideas. This is where we came across Envirobond. We decided to do a small patio made of irregular cut flagstone. I'm relatively handy and have done many small projects around the house over the years, so I decided to tackle it myself. The patio proved challenging with all the different size pieces of flagstone, but the Envirostone product made the whole thing come together. I'm not kidding....this stuff was so easy to use and hid every imperfection I created. I bought 3 bags to cover an area of about 80 square feet. This was back in June. This afternoon I was outside enjoying a cigar on our patio (it's now November), admiring my work. I came to the realization that the Envirostone is what made it awesome. I brag about it to my friends enough that I felt I should write this review. The fact that it's made with a plant product is my favourite part!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly surprised I installed a flagstone patio this year and decided to give Envirostone a try. I ran across their booth at the Toronto Home Show in March and their jointing sand seemed like an ideal solution for my project. I live in green household and I’ve had my share of disappointments with “green” products in the past but this exceeded my expectations. Really easy to work with and has been performing very well. My patio look great! I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Happy With This Product I have a lot of interlock that was always getting weeds in between the cracks. I read about this product and decided to try it on a small portion in the spring. You clear the cracks of the weeds first, then sweep in the product, (all of which is time consuming but worth the effort), blow off the excess with a leaf blower, then gently water it in. It is a lot of work, but this product really works -- no more weeds for the entire summer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Strange smell and isn't stopping the weeds I am suprised that on one else has mentioned this. I have noticed that whenever this product gets wet and the partically unused bag in my garage both stink like fish. Add this to the fact that the weeds can happily push through this "selfbonding" sand means I am going to be throwing it out and replacing it with normal sand. It is an interesting idea but definatly has some kinks to work out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's great! I installed it last spring when we built our new patio. It still looks great this year and no weeds! Thumbs up!

Do I need to border the garden beds to protect before installing? The patio stones are right next to garden beds, worried about the sand getting into the soil…

Asked by: Nicki12
Yup, you will have to make some sort of a border.  I have add little bit of cement to the mix and pack 3 to 4 inches of the gap between the stones just around the area that I don’t won the sand.  In my case it was my pond.  It will help to hold the edges in place as well when cement harden.
