Rated 2 out of 5 by from Switch problems In my application, the pump was quite awkward to install. Once completed, the diaphragm switch failed to activate the pump. Since I threaded the pump directly on to the drain spigot, customer service says it requires a spacer between pump and drain to work. Since I can fill the laundry sink with water and the switch does not activate, my guess is that this should provide ample head pressure to activate the switch. No instructions are available on the diaphragm switch. Even if I could get a replacement switch, it's a major pain to change it out. Think I will just install a manual switch. It also appears I am not the only purchaser to have this issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Well My biggest complaint about this product is that the company needs to simplify its instructions... !!Pay Attention !! Look for the detailed instructions on this website. My item did not come with separate instructions. Only after I looked up this item on Home Depots website did it reveal some interesting facts. These things should be clearly written on the outside of the box; 1. that it needs to be mounted 5 inches below the drain location to allow proper pressure for the switch to activate 2. It should also say that the valve included, is what you use to adjust the outgoing flow of waste water. This will allow the pump to cycle on at a steady rate. The adjustment valve was extremely hard to move. So far after a week it seems to be working well, I will update my review in the future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Everything down to the build of this pump is awful. The pump: The smallest (I mean smallest) piece of debris will clog this thing and cause it to overheat. First time this happened to us it was with a small pebble the less than a millimetre in diameter. I couldn't believe that was the cause so I kept looking for something else. After an hour I gave up, put it back together and it worked perfectly. I installed a mesh net in our drain because I knew it might happen again, and it did. Three times. With infuriatingly small things that shouldn't make a difference in a pump meant to handle laundry water. If you have kids don't get this thing. If you have a pet (even with small hairs), look elsewhere. Materials: This is built with the WORST QUALITY plastic. After having to take this apart twice the threading stripped, rendering the entire pump useless. I can't believe the utter lack of quality this thing presents. The design: When it clogs you have to completely disassemble it. How do you do that? By trying to get to the most inconveniently places screws on the pump. You need to access screws under the motor (the disc on the side) and another one under the outward facing pipe. In short: awful. Look at anything else. This is the worst pump I've ever installed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of junk This is the 3rd one of these. If I could give it 0 stars I would 1st one good for 3 years before motor stopped, 2nd one good for 1 1/2 years before starting leaking at the seal on shaft. 3rd one leaked right after install at shaft seal. Piece of junk or quality is getting worse. Dibs for Home Depot as they took it back for a refund. Now installed another brand but same style to fit existing piping. Will see how long that lasts

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Pump for clear water works well, but VERY sensitive to debris. broke one and replaced it and it works very well now that i know to be very careful about debris. Rinsing paintbrushes is even too much. really only water should go through this pump.

Is the check valve ABS? I'm wondering if I can use 1 1/4 ABS for the outlet drain as it is easier to source than PVC, and need to know if ABS cement will work on the check valve.
