I used Valspar Cabinet Paint tinted dark gray. The results are amazing. The finish is dang close to 'factory finish' quality. There is no orange peel and I didn't have any drips or sags. I thinned the paint 10% with water and added another 10% Floetrol. I applied using 30 lbs of air supplied by my old J. C. Higgins compressor. The attached image shows a closeup of the result with my thumb for a size reference. These guns work well, are manufactured to a high quality level and clean easily. I wish I had found this before I bought a Flexio last year.

I purchased it one year ago, and have only used water based paints, stains, and clear coat. These have served wonderfully for my business... until now... The trigger assembly fails after a while due to a cheap plastic component. When the trigger is pulled, it depresses a mechanism that allows the air to flow through the gun. The pin that is pressed is capped by a tapered plastic insert. When it snaps (like both of mine did) air will not flow through the gun and it becomes inoperable. I will not be buying this product again until they can fix this critical design flaw. Thanks Husky, a brand you can count on.... for a few minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well, even with latex Easy to assemble and clean. We used interior and exterior latex (both of which are not recommended according to the instructions) and had no problems spraying them on some cabinets. Compared to my big, airless sprayer, this tool has much less overspray and uses a lot less paint. It's also slower, but that's why I use it for smaller stuff like cabinets. In any case, it is still faster than brush or roller and creates a better finish. One tip: Keep the toothbrush-like cleaner handy when you are spraying. I found it handy to occasionally give the nozzle a quick brush during spray sessions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Spray Guns! We purchased this kit as an inexpensive test to see if we could get away from the cleanup issues we had with our expensive guns due to the complexity and sheer number of parts. After using this kit for 8 months, we love these guns! They are super simple to adjust, once adjusted for whatever we are spraying they do not require any adjustments during use. They spray just as well as our high dollar guns and are simpler to clean and adjust. I would recommend these to anyone regardless of how often they paint. Great product for a great price!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Spray Guns for Painting Cars!!!! I purchased this kit along with another HVLP spray gun( 3 spray guns in total). I used 1 for primer, 1 for base coat, and 1 for clear coat. This was my first time ever painting a car and the car came out great!!!! The proof is in the pudding!!! Look at the pic! I used 1.8mm tip for primer and 1.4mm for base coat and clear coat. I sprayed at 28-30 psi for primer, 30 psi for base coat and I find it best to spray at 32-35 psi for clear coat for less orange peel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly great for home projects; easy to use, easy to clean, great price. The kit did not come with the 1.8 nozzle tip noted in the instructions. One quick call to the customer service # shown resulted in their sending the tip - for free - received within the week. Used it to spray very slightly thinned latex in the HVLP gun, which they don't recommend, and it turned out great! There was also some confusion as to the small paint filters (which fit into the end of the reservoir, inserted from the open top) as they were incorrectly shown in the instructions' pictogram.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Threw a nice spray I bought this to do a paint job on my car and when my initial painting method didn't work out I needed a gun in a quick pinch. I initially wanted the Devilbliss kit however I did not have time to wait for shipping so I went and picked this gun up at HD and the 15 gallon Dewalt compressor. I used acyrlic lacquer car paint and threw the primer, basecoat and clear coat through this gun without any issues. I was impressed by how simple and easy it was to work. I don't quite understand all the knobs on the gun and they dont seem to really do much of anything that i noticed so i kept them at the factory settings. I cleaned the gun with lacquer thinnner and shot it through just like the directions. We will see if this gun will stand the test of time I like products that will last and not need to be replaced so only time will tell. As of right now this product gets 5 stars

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spray gun got perfect results on the first time I had ever used one. I had no difficulty in setting up and using the spray gun. I used it to repaint a boat and the finish came out very nice with no orange peel effect. Occasionally the gun would not spray at full velocity but I learned that unscrewing the cap on the paint container to allow air to get in then putting it back on solved the problem. This was the first time I had ever painted with a spray gun other than spray cans and the results were beautiful.

What kind of paint can I use with this kit?

The description says that these guns are not suitable for latex paints. I am trying to paint interior walls inexpensively - what kind of paint can I use?
Asked by: mrshlrn
I just bought this product myself. when you open the package it clearly states do not use with latex paint. However, I called the customer service line and they put me in touch with the paint technician who was extremely helpful. He said that this sprayer can be used with latex paint but you must contact the paint manufacturer to learn what the thinning ratio should be. He also recommended being thorough in cleaning the unit afterwards. They also have a 1.9mm needle kit available which is better suited for latex that they sell online. It was less than $15.00 for the kit. If you have any concerns reach out to the customer service staff. They were really helpful.

Gun/Air Compressor HELP!

Does anyone know if I could run these guns with just a simple 6-gallon pancake style compressor (150 Max PSI)? If not, would the Huskey 33 Gal that they sell at HD do the trick? I'd buy the 33gal $299 Huskey if it would allow me to use the guns for my laquer and automotive paint and top coats. Problem is, I keep seeing people write about how you really need a gas powered 2-5HP compressor to really used these types of guns effectively. Any truth to that? I know it's really just more of a CFM and tank size question, but I want to paint my car with professional grade results. I also want my laquer to be fully atomized so that the finish comes out awesome! Can anyone chime in with some wisdom one way or the other?

30 yrs painting cars, I have learned that this gun works great for a small job with a small compressor, If you do a full size paint job with your small compressor and a hvlp you will not meet the flash time on 2 stage paint (your base coat) 10 min per coat, which can ruin a paint job especially when it comes to 2nd stage (clear coat). A easy fix for your situation or anyone with small compressors painting in a garage setup would be the LVLP gun sold at HD as well and I have it and it works well..( LOW VOLUME LOW PRESSURE). Allows you to maintain pressure and still put paint on like normal. Its cheaper than buying a whole new compressor and water separators. Sprayit makes a good quality gun. the 3300 by sprayit is awesome or you can go way overboard and get name brand for 350 - 500 lvlp devilbiss etc...

10/26/15 UPDATE to Painter: Thanks for your feedback. I called the number you gave to get the three 1.8mm parts and was referred to another number (800) 356-3392. The three parts come in a kit and my costs were $9.80 for parts and $5.95 for shipping.

Can I use these guns on a Harbor Freight 2.5hp 21 gal. compressor to paint a car?

My HF compressor says that it's rated at 5.8cfm @40psi. The specs. on these guns say it only needs 4cfm@40 to operate. Is this true? Then shouldn't these guns be LVLP? Anyways, I was going to purchase the Spray-it 33000 LVLP, but after reading the excellent reviews & checking the specs on these guns, I'm leaning towards these HVLP guns. I just need some confirmation from anyone that paints cars regularly or someone that has painted a car with a similar set-up if this can be done with good atomization. Thanks.

Hi ProjectC10, I'm Travis from The Home Depot. Thanks for visiting our site. Yes, you are correct that these Husky Spray Guns will operate optimally with the 5.8cfm(@40psi) of air flow supplied by your compressor. These spray guns give you full adjustability of the mixing rate of the air and paint along with a gravity feed design to deliver the great results that you are expecting. The kit is complete with in-line regulators, extra spray cups and paint filters. There's even a cleaning brush kit. Thank you for asking, -Travis

Can this be used for exterior house painting?

If so what sprayer in the kit would work? Or should I just go with an airless sprayer? I'd hate to have to buy one for interior walls and cabinets and one for exterior.
Asked by: Riley
This sprayer is not designed for exterior house painting. These are fine finish sprayers ideal for painting, staining and priming automobiles, cabinets, interior and closet doors and moldings. They spray a very smooth fine coat. Exterior house painting requires a Graco or Wangner airless painters that apply several gallons of paint as opposed to several ounces of paint.

Hi , may i spray oil based primer with it . Thanks

Asked by: David
Absolutely! The only issue, as with most spray guns, is selecting the right nozzle and paint viscosity. I have sprayed high build primer with this and had no problems. To be honest, they are great guns for the money!

Painting Interior Walls

I plan on painting the interior walls of my home. Do spray guns save time? Are they recommended for interior painting? I have a Husky 8-gallan 125psi compressor will this power this or any type of spray guns?
Asked by: regmeister
Of course you can use a sprayer for interiors - most probable that are empty. I find it a toss on the saving time thing. With a gun, you have to mask everything you do not want a drop of paint on when using a sprayer versus, if you have a steady hand, most you'd need to do is tape fixtures that will not be painted and absolutely must stay in place. The 8 gallon compressor will burn up on you as it is not big enough (I fried one learning that, thank you). Need 20 gallons compressor or more.
