I bought two of these to replace older dimmers that were not designed for LED lights. The lights are actually brighter now. Only problem was finding them on the Home Depot shelf - they were right at the bottom behind a promotional display for something else.

There was also a cheaper rotary dimmer but it wasn’t a push on/off dimmer. Installed it as a single pole dimmer using only 1 red wire rather than 2 red on a 3 way application. Perfect for a toggle type wall plate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps the same look, works great with LEDs Recently replaced my old kitchen incandescent can light bulbs with new LED can bulbs. There was too much LED flickering as the old dimmer switch must have just been for incandescent (built my home 23 years ago). The new switch allows a much better range of LED dimming without light flickering (including very low dimming). Am very satisfied, especially since the rotating switch also matches the other older adjacent rotating switch style.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ok for an inexpensive dimmer. Replaced 3 old dimmers with these. Wiring was easy and straightforward. Operation and function were ok. Not sure as to long term quality. The old switches had metal stems and these have plastic. With the push on/off function, not sure how the plastic will hold up. The old switches suffered issues with the metal stems and internal on/off function, so time will tell with this dimmers plastic components. Overall, at this point, they are functioning well.

Asked by: Scott
It does not come with the cover plate. The existing plate should work unless you are changing colors.

I noticed the old dimmers in my home built in 2001 are Leviton. The 3 old switches all have a slight hum when only when not at full brightness with incandescent bulbs. If I take out 4 of the 5 bulbs still a hum at switch. Not overloading switch with watts by any means. So I bought 3 new dimmer rotary knob switches like these above and they do the same thing with incandescent-slight hum when not at 100% brightness. Have not switched to LED bulbs yet--I will over time. I assume all is well any may be the nature of some of these cheaper switches. Thanks for any advice.
Asked by: peterc
I have found out that is better to use LED bulbs with a dimmer it will take care of the humming

After installation, the knob bulging out from the switch/wall plate like almost half inch?

Asked by: Anh
Yeah, had the same issue. I used a dremel tool with a cutoff disc to reduce the length of the stem. Just be careful to only take a very thin amt (16th of an inch) each cut and check for the operation of the push on/off operation.

The rotary dimmer RDL06 I purchased only has 2 black wires, it doesn't match the image in the directions. How to replace a 3 way toggle switch connected with a red, black and white wire? I know the black goes to black, but what do I do with the remaining red and white wire?
Asked by: thrifty4
The reason for two black wires is that you put them is series with the black wires you have giving power to the light. if you only have a black and a white wire in your box it is mostly that the person dong the initial wiring didn't do by code. should have been two blacks. Your are only braking one leg of the voltage being supplied to the light. Black is hot and white is normally a ground going back to your electrical panel. to be sure take a voltage tester to the two wires in you box. if not voltage is present take one leg at a time to the ground wire in your junction box. One of the two should give you 120VAC

It's a single-pole dimmer instead of a 3-way dimmer.
