Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I installed this at the side of my house and love the functionality. Easy to setup and the Ring app is simple to use and has a lot of functionality. Quality construction and materials. It's great that you can control lighting and motion detection settings remotely because the light is mounted quite high up and would be a hassle to have to manually configure. The remote live viewing and motion detection video features in the Ring app (iOS) work well and provide a granular level of control. As for the flood light itself, my only feedback is that the camera has a limited range of motion; so, if installing it on the side of your house, you will only be able to position the camera a maximum angle of about 45 degrees.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but should be better It needs to be installed so no switch is involved. An Electrican took about 30 minutes to install mine and its located about 20' from the router. Took maybe another 10 minutes to download the app onto iphone and get running, it was easy. Daytime it can pick up a vehicle on our long driveway over 50 yards away. Picks up people/movement at least 40' feet away and video is colour and very clear. Night-time is where it's not so good. Uses infrared, lights come on but video is grainy/grey (you wouldn't recognise your own Mother!). However you can trick the sensor into thinking it's daytime using a small $6.00 piece of fibre optic cable. Lights come on and video is in colour and clear. It's a great security addition and you can monitor your property from anywhere on the planet that has wifi. Lastly their customer service is up there with Bell and Air Canada!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the most reliable camera system. I bought 5 of these and only 3 of them work. One of them had an issue with the lights, and they kept going on and off, even when turned off from the app. Supposedly it’s a defect according to the ring website. The other camera wouldn’t stay connected to the wifi and the alerts would go off even when turned off from the app. It’s a bit frustrating because I paid an electrician to install them and now I have to take two down and return them. Waste of money, even if I end up returning them. And now I’m stuck using Ring since I paid for the subscription and already have 3 other cameras set up and working.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good Flood light but Garbage camera connection This is a one month review of the Ring Floodlight Security Camera. I bought this flood light Security camera as our previous camera was stolen. We didn't want to have this camera stolen as well so we installed it 9 feet above ground. Unfortunately, the wifi connection for this camera does not work well beyond 10 feet from the router. In order to resolve this we had to buy the Ring Chimp Pro (wifi extender). Afterwards, the connection worked but barely. The camera works 30% of the time. Good idea of a security camera but bad design. The Ring interface and notification was poorly made as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ring Flood Light The product is good, however, at times it takes a while for the picture to appear online. We had a few issues in the beginning, but that has been solved. You need to make sure that the wi-fi signal is strong and close to the camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great combination of lighting and security I put up a few of these around my property about a month ago. They have worked great. The picture is clear enough but don't expect to get minute details. The viewing quality on my phone has been good overall. There is a subscription service if you want to have videos saved in the cloud and it is reasonable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! Easy installation identical to installing a standard light fixture. Motion sensor works reliabily. Ring App has something to be desired as it's not feature rich like Nest. But hopefully this will evolve over time.

What is the wifi range?

Asked by: MolsonMonster
You would want to have the Floodlight Cam installed within 25' - 30' of your router. It's different in every case, your home may be brick or there could be steel beams in the wall or other devices that could affect the wifi signal to your camera. In those cases, a wifi extender is required for the camera to get the proper signal.

HI, I believe this is for outside lighting. but damp/wet rating says dry. Is it ok to use outside without roof?

Asked by: Hiro
Yes.  Not an issue to use where the rain and/or snow will access it.

How many wires does this need? Just standard black and white?

Asked by: bob27
Hi Bob27, Great question! For detailed instructions on mounting and wiring your Ring Floodlight Cam please visit the link below. If your junction box doesn’t have clearly colored black and white wires, we suggest consulting a licensed electrician. https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001262186-Installing-Your-Floodlight-Cam If you have any additional questions please reach out to our team today. In reference to the question above concerning operations of the Ring floodlight camera in temperatures below -28C. What will happen to the system when the temperature actually goes to -35C here in Ottawa. Will it work again when it warms up above -28?

Asked by: SamT
Hi Sam, Thanks for contacting me. Due to the fact that our Floodlight Cam gets direct power and is not battery operated, this gives you some leeway with the ability for it to function in temperatures below -28. With that being said, it is possible that some of the internal processes may be affected depending on how much the temperature drops. If you have any additional questions please feel free to email me at Kaitlyn.rosenthal@ring.com and I would be more than happy to assist you.
