This unit is so versatile, having the ability to use one of my 18-Volt ONE+ battery was just so convenient, especially needing it in a remote location--no need to get AC power there. Set up is quick, the unit is sleek and powerful. A great tool, performs better than expected and uses standard water hoses so hook ups are also easy.My only complaint is not having bought it sooner!

This little portable pump is the perfect way to pump the water from the tanks in my truck into a large reserve tank in my yard. It works perfectly and is lightweight and I use it on battery power so there is no power cord to trip over, or forget and leave out in the yard. I love Ryobi tools and have acquired a number of them over the years.

This, like all tools, is only meant for certain jobs, but it worked great in my case. I own some undeveloped land where I'm building a cabin/shelter/shack/shanty. I have solar power and a battery bank. I have a 275 gallon water "tote" that feeds a sink and propane heated shower through a battery powered diaphram pump. One of the last keys to being "self sufficient" out there was being able to pump water from the creek into the water tote when it gets low. I had to haul a generator out there to power a 1/2HP transfer pump, which was definitely a pain. I thought this would be a great way around that.. and it didn't really disappoint. Pros 1. The biggest is obviously that it's battery powered. 2. It's light. 3. It doesn't have any problem lifting water about 10 feet into the tote. Cons 1. It's much slower than the AC 1/2HP pump. but.. no derr. 2. It's loudish.. but not offputting. 3. I hate the "priming" involved. I'm not sure if it's completely necessary or what.. but I'm not taking chances. 4. The tiny stupid oil dropper that came with it was/is absolutely impossible to drop through the tip. I've cut it back. I've squeezed as hard as possible. It won't come out that way. I have to unscrew the cap and gingerly drop it in that way. 5. The instructions don't really tell you what to use when the oil runs out. Overall, it's perfect for me. I filled my tote about 1/5th of the way (55 ish gallons?) in about 15-20 minutes over a 10-12 foot rise. That's about 3 gallons/minute which is well short of the 5.42 advertised. Obviously, the rise.. And probably using battery instead of AC play into that. I used a Ryobi 3AH battery which was down to 1 bar at the end of that, but whatever. That's fine. I'd definitely recommend this, but only if you have a tailor made use case scenario where battery power is desired/required. Otherwise you're probably better served with a cheaper/faster/stronger transfer pump.

Purchased this unit to serve primarily as a backup sump pump and to remove standing water. The dual power is the main reason for this purchase. All needed things to use are included except for an output hose and a battery. If the power goes out, I have 5 One+ LiOn batteries to power this pump. The only issue I have is the noise of the unit when running.

How practical would this be to use to transfer from a rain barrel to a garden hose with a nozzle for watering?

Would this pump be suitable for using on a rain barrel? I'd like to be able to pump directly into my garden which is only 25' away.

    Asked by: Kirsty
Hello Kirsty, yes this pump would be perfect for that use. Thank you, The Ryobi Team.
