Model # ET64220|Store SKU # 1001012102

Overview

Model # ET64220 Store SKU # 1001012102

A must-have tester for audio/video installers and datacom technicians, the WireTracker Wire Tracer raises the standard for classic tone and probe products. The patented unit traces non-energized wire for correct identification while the unique design nestles the probe within the unit to keep components together during transportation or storage to avoid loss. Different terminations are also self-contained within the unit, making it a must-have for voice-data-video installations or remodels. The transmitter connects to un-energized cables, wires or fuses while the receiver probe traces the wire path. Audio and visual indicators quickly identify the signal strength to allow for precise wire identifications while the adjustable sensitivity dial ensures positive identification of a single wire when multiple wires are routed in close proximity. Unit features both audible (beeping) and visual (bright light) indication. Engineered to withstand a 10 ft. drop and 250 lbs. crush rated.

  1. Audible and visual indication
  1. Includes RJ-45, RJ-11, coax, automotive fuse blade and insulated clamp adapter plugs
  1. Identifies coax, CAT 5, speaker, phone or any non-energized wire

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well Works very well; it would be nice if probe was more secure when in the holder

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cannot trace single wire in a set NOT able to detect single wire. Example, if you have 10/2 wires (white/ black/ ground) and only connect the white and to a panel ground, at the other end you will get a POSITIVE on white, black and ground wire even though black and ground aren't connected in any way. It works perfectly to identify a complete cable from one end to the panel, etc., but you CANNOT by any means whatsoever, trace ONE of the wires in a set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well but only if you follow the instructions Works better than i expected for the reasonable price. I was cautious because some of the reviews said it does not work. After reading the instructions and testing the different modes, i realized that those who could not make it work did not follow the instructions carefully.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tracer! It exactly does job as they mentioned in the product description, the only product improvement needed is battery for receiver should be AAA instead of LR44 as LR44 drains very quickly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sperry Toner tracer I purchased this item June 2021. I was looking for a better brand name or other "real" toner but unfortunately Home Depot did not carry them in stock. I gave it a try and it was a waste of time. The Probe Wire tracer, that is the sensor "wand," was hard to hold and depress the On button at the same time. It is a small button and the ergonomics of holding the tracer wand and holding down the On button, did not work easily or well for me. The tone signal was quiet and the wand should have been much more sensitive at a distance. The distance I am talking about is up to 4 inches, the thickness of a wall because that is the whole point of using a tool like this; to trace wires hidden in a wall. At 1/2 inch from the wire, the sensitivity died away to the point of uselessness. I purchased a different, better product (more money, of course) that still picked up the toner signal at the thickness of a wall covered with drywall. I was able to follow wires buried in the wall quite easily. That is the performance that is to be expected from a tool like this. There may have been something wrong with this particular item/tool but the batteries tested fine so I suggest you don't waste money on this product.

Can this be use to trace wire inside a drywall?

Asked by: LREYES
Our PD6902 5-in-1 Multi-Scanner would be a better option, since it is able to detect AC voltage to a maximum depth of 3.5" through 0.5" drywall.
