Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Torch If you are not hearing a sound like a jet fighter engine ... you opened the propane tank too much Crack the tank just a little and then open the valve on the torch a little .... press the trigger and you will hear a jet noise light the flame and adjust the force of the flame I made the mistake of cracking the tank too much and the flame was like a dozen bics - this means the safety valve on the tank has kicked in If the torch is working properly the neighbors will complain about the noise and you will think you are in a Mad Max movie I cannot underestimate how important it is too crack the propane tank just a little!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Used this to clear out my driveway after several different weed killers failed to keep them dead.... Used this to clear out my driveway after several different weed killers failed to keep them dead. Easy hook up to my 5 gallon tank, the hose is really long which makes it really convenient. Takes a little getting used to not having a pilot but not a big issue. I found out that on top of clearing weeds and brush, this makes a great rat nest extermination tool. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone, best weed torch for the money hands down! Like: Long hose gives it range from your tank. Easy to light. Easy hook up. Fuel control near the trigger for flame control. Dislike: No pilot, have to keep the igniter handy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A weed burning beast! The Inferno propane torch took a little getting used to. At first I was holding the torch too close to my driveway, which caused the flame to extinguish due to lack of oxygen. Once I figured this out, it made short work of a large overgrown garden patch. This this thing sounds like a jet engine! One note - SLOWLY open the valve to your propane tank. The unit has a valve to prevent rapid pressure changes, a safety feature. If you open the tank valve too quickly it will prevent the unit from working. I'm guessing they did this to prevent people from turning this into a flamethrower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from exellent product I live in a desert environment, so my yard is mainly decorative rock, trees and bushes. I purchased this product to burn out clutter in the rocks. This unit far exceeded my expectation, it was easy to use, and thoroughly cleaned the rocks. A couple of points addressed above, read instructions, and turn on propane tank slowly, no problem lighting, second I am still on my first five gal tank, and have amassed about three or four hrs so far, I have a small gorilla garden wagon that I put the tank in and just tow it around instead of carrying the tank. Terrific product and great value to boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Scary-good! I wanted to review this because I read a lot of bad reviews about how poor the flame was. When I first started it, the flame was very low...almost like holding a lighter, but if you let it sit for a couple minutes to purge the air out of the hose, it blasts fire like a rocket. It works so well it was a little scary! It does this with each use, open the valve on the gas cylinder, and wait for the line to purge. I pull the trigger on the torch itself a few times until you hear the blast of propane, and not just a hiss of the gas pressure dropping. Once it goes, I burned through 200 feet a grass in 15 minutes instead of the days it would have taken with the trimmer and a rake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maui, HI Like some others I too had problems lighting this thing. After reading instructions in depth on google this thing is very powerful. You only need to open your propane valve slightly and turn the adjustment valve on the torch shaft about 1/8 of a turn. Squeezing the torch trigger slowly you'll hear and feel the rush of the 500,000 BTUS and see its power upon lighting it. Works well on weeds and lights a charcoal hibachi in seconds. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and efficent I have been struggling with weeds on my patio for years. Used lots of different methods that took hours and even days. My wife convinced me to try the inferno Propane torch. In 6 minutes I did a 14 x 14 square area then cleaned up with the power washer to get the ash off. |Burned the weeds right down to the roots. I did all my walkways and patios in a fraction of the time it would have taken before with Roundup and other methods. Don't waste your money on anything else. A word of caution, wear good work boots and safety glasses. This thing could kill you if you don't respect it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well with some modifcication I bought this model over other brands, because it was fifty bucks and I thought it included a "squeeze valve," a lever to control the gas flow. The lever on this one is only a deadman switch, you need to hold it down all the time, or else the torch goes out completely. I took it the lever apart to see if I could modify it with a small hole or something to create a pilot, but that looked tricky, so I just removed the lever assembly it and replaced it with a 1/4" NPT coupler. You could save yourself the work and achieve the same thing by taping the lever down. All-in-all I'm satisfied. I've had no problems with the torch shutting itself off due to excess gas flow triggering the safety stop built into the tank connector. You shouldn't need to open the valve on the torch more than 1/4 turn. Torch assembled in Mexico.

What kind of propane tank is needed for this unit? How long will it run on a tank?

Asked by: Porter
A standard 20 lb tank works with this torch. I've used it for several hours at a time, and burned through about half a tank. Note that a full tank can get kind of heavy to lug around, so for smaller jobs, consider a tank that is nearly empty.

what type of regulator is needed to hook this to the propane tank.

Having trouble finding compatible connectors.
Asked by: sedmo
There is no regulator. The hose fitting screws directly to your 20 lb tank. The higher pressure supplied to the torch is where it gets it heat generating power. The flow limiter in your propane tank is still there to cut the flow if something breaks or ruptures. Simple but effective.

Is there an adjustable pilot light or do you have to keep lighting it each time you move to another area?

Asked by: jay1
No, you have to relight it every time you move. It shouldn't be too difficult to rig something up.

What other items besides the weed burner and the tank do I need to get started, valves, Etc.

Asked by: Petaletal
I used a fire place lighter, worked better than the sparker. Safety glasses, gloves and "long pants" are a plus.

The Lincoln Electric Inferno Propane Torch Kit is not working as expected.

When lit is no more that a oil lamp and less that a Bic lighter. No pressure absolutely useless in a slight wind...I had it opened all the way. What is up with this???
Asked by: Andrew
Your propane tank's safety valve is probably engaged. Connect the burner, and with the burner's valve closed, fully open the propane tank's valve, and then fully close it. Repeat this a few times. That should reset the valve.

A reviewer made a comment about how loud this is? Just wanted to confirm this as I don't want to upset my neighbors.
Asked by: quinpin
Yes, I would agree it is loud, but consider you are using propane and it is loud, but I wouldn't say excessively. The Inferno does a great job for the job at hand.

Does the inferno propane torch require a o-ring on the fitting going into the propane tank.

Asked by: Glenn
No, the connector attached to the torch hose already has an o-ring in plane.
