Threaded inserts provide permanent machine screw threads in wood, plastic, soft metal or other porous materials. Threaded inserts are often used to replace worn wood screw or metal screw holes that have become oversized due to wear. Installed with a machine screw, bolt, hex key or screwdriver for those types available with a slotted head. Use flanged type inserts to prevent pull-through. Threaded Inserts prevent wood splitting and the need to use large screws in wood only applications. Use of the correct drill size is very important in order to allow the nut to collapse properly.
Tee Nuts are used in wood to wood and metal to wood applications.
Joint Connector Bolts are designed to connect furniture or woodworking components at right angles or parallel. Ideal for all Knock-Down or Ready-to-Assemble Furniture. Used with Cap Nuts, Inserts, cross dowels or tee nuts. Low profile, large diameter, hex drive head. Brass plated is more economical than solid brass and is purely a decorative finish to match most hardware or wood used in Knock-Down or Ready-to-Assemble Furniture projects.
Hex Head Cap Screws are also known as Hex Bolts and are used to secure an object within or against another object. They have tighter tolerances, has a chamfered end and a washer face under the bolt head. Made from medium carbon steel. Length is measured from under head to end of bolt. Steel is zinc plated for moderate protection against rust. Use hot dipped galvanized finish or stainless steel where corrorsion and rust is of concern or for exterior projects. Best for areas where high strength is desired. Class 8.8 is similar in strength to SAE Grade 5. Ideal for indoor projects, construction, agricultural, and automotive applications. Use matching metric class 8 nut.
