Dishwasher Installation

• Basic dishwasher installation is available as an add-on to your dishwasher purchase for a standard fee of $189, plus tax.
• Your dishwasher installation cost excludes haul-away of your old dishwasher, which can be added separately to your purchase for $45 plus tax.

In most cases, your dishwasher installation can be completed in 2 hours or less.

• With Basic Dishwasher Installation, we will only install your new or replacement dishwasher in a location that has already been set up for one.
• Installing a dishwasher in a new location requires preparatory plumbing and electrical work.  If needed, you can connect with our trusted plumbing and electrical Local Pros separately before scheduling your dishwasher install appointment.

All required parts are included in the cost of your Basic Dishwasher Installation service.

• Our dishwasher installers will not install a new shut-off valve and will not route supply or drain lines through cabinets other than ones containing the sink base.
• No modifications to existing structures, plumbing, electrical work, countertops or cabinetry will be performed to accommodate your new dishwasher.
• Haul away and disposal of your old dishwasher are not included unless purchased separately.

• If you would like your old dishwasher to be hauled away, our ‘Haul Away’ service can be purchased by checking the box in your cart. 
• Your installer will disconnect and haul away the old unit for an additional fee of $45, which can be purchased in cart.

No need to disconnect your own dishwasher! Our installers will disconnect your old dishwasher for you before they install your new dishwasher replacement.

No. As this basic dishwasher installation service is offered as an add-on with the purchase of a dishwasher in-store or online from The Home Depot, we do not install dishwashers purchased from other retailers.

• You do not need a permit for dishwasher replacement or basic dishwasher installation.
• In some cases where additional plumbing or electrical work is needed in order to complete a dishwasher hookup, a permit may be required. Please ask your installer prior to your dishwasher installation.

• Requirements vary by dishwasher model, so power cords and water line kits are typically sold separately.
• Your installer will confirm what’s needed before arriving to complete your dishwasher install.

• Most dishwashers are 24 inches wide, which is the standard size for most kitchens. However, they are available in a range of larger and smaller sizes.
• 18-inch compact dishwashers are a popular choice for condos and smaller kitchens, while oversized options as wide as 42 inches are available for larger, custom kitchens.
• Please verify the size of the opening in your cabinetry and your existing dishwasher before purchasing a new one. If the size of your new dishwasher doesn’t match the opening in your cabinets, our installers may not be able to complete their work.

• As dishwasher installation and delivery services are arranged and scheduled separately from each other, they cannot be completed in the same visit.
• Customers are advised to take their scheduled/expected delivery time into account when booking a dishwasher install appointment.
• If Haul Away is purchased without installation, your old dishwasher will be taken away or moved when the new one is delivered.

• Your new dishwasher comes with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty. In addition, you may choose to purchase an Extended Service Plan at any time within the first year.
• If the appliance arrives with visible damage, ask the delivery agent about the Save the Delivery process. Once explained if this is not something that is acceptable to you we recommend that you refuse the delivery and indicate ‘refused due to damage’ on the bill of lading (BOL). Otherwise you have up to 48 hours from time of delivery to notify The Home Depot at 1-800-759-2054 of any concealed damage.
• If you notice a defect (not damage) in the appliance after the initial 48 hours, this becomes a warranty issue. Please call the manufacturer’s warranty line. This is not the responsibility of the installer.
